Villa Borghese

A grand setting for a grand collection. This 19th-century palatial repository was built to house the heaving collections of the Habsburgs. Among its current 30 million artefacts, you can peruse a multitude of meteorites, a dedicated dinosaur hall complete with Diplodocus skeleton and the delicate Venus of Willendorf fertility statuette that dates from 25,000 BC.

Borghese gardens above Spanish Steps a nice quiet break from Rome crowds. The sculptures in the villa itself definitely worth seeing; one of Pauline Bonaparte (Napoleon's sister) a stunner. Also Bernini ones are real masterpieces. Small villa so bookings best.

Still a brilliant set of galleries.

Still a brilliant set of galleries. Need to book in advance and Is worth getting a guided tour to explain some of the masterpieces. The surrounding park is a haven of peace in the noise and bustle of Rome. If you are really after peace and gardens, take the metro and then the bus out to the Villa D'Este and its gardens at Tivoli. They are a bit hard to find when you get to Tivoli as they are tucked away behind the main square. If lost, just ask a local.

If going to the Galleria Borghese museum , it is a pleasure compared another crowded museum. You can book in advance directly online with the museums authorized partner. Do not get involved with resellers. You can get the ticket from the link on their official website direct vendor. Just be sure to do so when time slots open about 2 weeks before. Do not be late for this reservation though. Get there in advance and walk around surrounding park. They may not let you in if not punctual. If you like Carrivaggio and baroque art you will love this place once let inside for your 2hr window

Stunning art!

Stunning art! Be sure to purchase entrance tickets ahead of time since they have a great concept filtering smaller groups throughout the day so that the art can be enjoyed and experienced without overcrowding. Also, be sure to make time to enjoy the cafe..delish!!

This is a lovely apartment in the center of Rome, close to Villa Borghese and the Termini train station. It has everything we needed, including heating. The apartment is clean and cozy. One thing that was unclear to me was how to get into the building. We had to ring a neighbor’s doorbell to get in because the entrance lock is located inside, near the apartment door. Communication with the hosts was great, and they responded quickly. I definitely recommend this apartment.

The property is in a beautiful lively and safe residential area of Rome, a few minutes walking distance to Villa Borghese and Fiume, There is a bus stop a few steps away. Just opposite the building is the newly opened MACRO, the Museum of Contemporary Art of Rome. Different kind of restaurants, shops and supermarkets are also very close. We also loved the big space of the apartment, cosy and comfy!

Ninhouse was the cherry on the cake to our holiday. - Nino was the perfect host. He met us after 10pm, as we had a late flight, and explained everything to us in detail. Also, he gave us suggestions to visit nearby shops for breakfast. - Central heated apartment, so it was still cosy during December - Location was very close to attractions - within walking distance to bioparco di Roma, villa Borghese, piazza del Popolo etc. - The place was very well kept, clean, towels and other necessities provided

What guests said about Villa Borghese:

From the airport you can get a train to the central station,...

From the airport you can get a train to the central station, Termine. Here you can get a 'Rome Pass', for either 2 or 3 days, the latter being about €25. This gives you free access to the metro as well as all buses, so getting around is very easy. Although it is more enjoyable to walk the city as most of the attractions are close by and you get to experience how the city feels. The Rome pass also offers free entry to 2 attractions which also allows you to queue jump. The Coliseum is naturally very popular so making this one of your freebies is a good idea. Also the Villa Borghese is a bit more expensive than other attractions, so again a good choice as a freebie
