GermanySoo I started reservation of a room with a travel agency at the Drury Inn and Suites in San Antonio. The next day after confirming San Antonio, I logged in and completed what I thought was reservation of the room I originally started. Upon arrival, we met your awesome security guy, sorry can't remember his name and after we went inside and checked in. I sent my family to the room to get comfortable while I parked my truck. Upon arrival to the room I found my beautiful wife sitting in a chair inside the room with the curtains opened looking out the window. And I explained, baby we have a balcony and asked why are you inside looking out side. She showed me that we have no balcony. So in a bit of despair, I looked at the room reservation and it did not Include a balcony. I immediately went to the front desk ad explained how much my wife loves to take pictures and being outdoors and somehow the room/ reservation changed and I did not verify and asked how much to upgrade to a room with a balcony. I felt so bad whatching my wife just looking out a window. Alexis! I hope I spelled her name right listened to me and understood the delima I was in, took a look and said I can get your family in the room you thought you were getting initially at no extra charge. I was blown away. I don't know how you found her and or Renea your assistant GM. All your staff is amazing including your cook. He watched attentively over the food out your kick back 5:30 to 7 pm. Thank you Alexis and everyone keep it up. My family and I will only stay at Drury Inn and Suites in San Antonio tx if you continue to employee the type of amazing folks we met today!!!

I may be a little pessimistic, but I think the River Walk is...
I may be a little pessimistic, but I think the River Walk is a bit overrated. There are a number of chain restaurants (with so-so quality) and it's a bit stinky from all the bird/animal droppings.
The ambiance is fun (lights and drinks and such) but it's definitely just a tourist stop.

Do not leave town without going to the Riverwalk. It's much cooler lower than street level. Visit night after Thanksgiving to see all the super tall trees filled with Holiday lights, ride the River boats, catch a river parade, etc. Generally, it's not cold in Fall or Winter until December. Also, Fiesta is a great time to visit! Watch PBS on demand to see Joseph Rosendo's 2 trips to San Antonio!

Boat tours cost money but will let you see more without walking as much. Moat of the restaurants/bars are pricey, but mice and several are unique. Anywhere you park in the city is going to cost you. The Riverfront mall has a parking garage with options based on time and can be a better deal depending on where you are going. Most parking areas are not cast, they are pay by phone.

Head towards the "Museum Reach" area of the River Walk to...
Head towards the "Museum Reach" area of the River Walk to The Pearl. There are lots of good restaurants there and shopping. Past The Pearl you will find the Witte Museum and the Smoke Shack. Both are worth your time. A good place to eat along the River Walk is Ocho and Tre Trattoria (which is attached to the San Antonio Art Museum).

Everyone needs to visit the Riverwalk at least once. The boat tours are great and very informational. Is it a "must do" everytime I visit...no, but it is a great place to go to eat and get souvineers.

The historical presence of the hotel felt like we went back in time it was a lovely hotel. Staff was friendly we only stayed one night didn't get to experience the whole hotel like we wanted to but the stay was great a little pricey for just 1 night but when you want to splurge on a night stay this place is amazing. Loved how close you are to river walk didn't have to drive anywhere

We had an experience with a "high end" hotel by the river walk. The place was filthy and the pool.. afraid to put your feet in. We come to your place and it was the best. The cleanliness was outstanding and the pool..extraordinarily clean.I also noticed how the staff is very attentive when the breakfast is being served..constantly cleaning.. I will come back and stay here.

The room was excellent. The layout of the room was perfect. Clean and spacious and comfortable. The pools were great both indoor and rooftop. The hotel offered both free breakfast and dinner AND popcorn and soda at 4. Everyone who works there is friendly professional and helpful. It’s right on the riverwalk and walking distance to places to eat, market square and just walking around the river walk. The next vacation definitely will be through the Drury again. They offer so much.

Everything in San Antonio is more expensive than it should be. A lot of bums laying around the river walk.
The main attractions are the Alamo and the old churches which can be easily seen in one day.
This is not a snub on Hotel Contessa - but is my take on San Antonio in general.
It was much better the other times I visited.

Great hotel, right on the San Antonio River walk... great amenities. The only thing was waiting for our run to be ready 35 to 40 minutes after a long drive from Houston. But still gave a 10.

The facilities in the room were adequate. No complaints. The room was also as clean as one would expect. The great advantage of this hotel is its proximity to the San Antonio River Walk and its affordability compared to other hotels in the area. Furthermore, the pet policy is reasonable, and we were travelling with our corgi. The breakfast on offer was also adequate.
