This hotel has everything you might need as a first-timer in New York. It has spacious and cozy rooms, equipped with everything you need and more, such as an empty fridge for your drinks and food, a good hair dryer, clothes iron, and even a sleeping machine with white noise or animal sounds if you need a bit of help to fall asleep. Knowing that I have an iron and an ironing board in the room really helped me relax while packing for my trip. We also had a big umbrella in the closet, as well as super comfy bathrobes and slippers. The view from our room was stunning, and there wasn't much noise, just an occasional siren which was muffled and didn't bother us while we relaxed or slept. We also couldn't hear any of the neighbors! They also provided us with a free Nespresso machine, tea, and coffee pods. The staff was super polite and helpful; they really offered help and went out of their way to let us know we could ask for everything we might need. Such an atmosphere really helped us relax! From the reception, doormen, bartenders, cleaners, and waiters at the bar - everyone was super nice. The location is one of the best in town - you have Times Square and metro stations just a couple minutes away, a 24h open CVS, Whole Foods, Joe's Pizza, Broadway theaters, Bryant Park, and so much more just a couple of steps away from the hotel. The public Library, Summit One Vanderbilt, and Grand Central Station are also very easy and close to walk to. We appreciated the happy hour with a free Aperol spritz every day from 4-6 PM, and it was super refreshing after our busy day of exploring. We also had the opportunity to dine at the AperiBar, and needless to say, the food was fantastic. We had oysters, a pizza, and a steak; everything was heavenly. Their cocktails are also fabulous. We'd absolutely recommend LUMA to everyone who is coming to NY for the first time and wants to have a perfect, smooth base for exploring.

This was our second stay already. The location is outstandingly good. Very central but just far enough off all the midtown craze. Close to central park and upper east side. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Housekeeping is great, coffee and water in your room everyday. Value for money is perfect for us given the quality and central location.

Times Square

Alive with billboards and brightly-lit screens, Times Square thrums with energy. Yellow taxis fly past and tourists pause awestruck to snap photos on their phones. The bustle of New York summed up in one crossroads, every element competes for your attention. It may be often recreated for film and TV, but nothing beats seeing this iconic location up-close.

    why is this even mentioned?

why is this even mentioned? crowded, often dirty, unsurprising and very touristy. if you like neon well maybe but it’s rather gross. exciting maybe for people who’ve never traveled. if you want to be awestruck, go to the 9/11 memorial.

Superb place at any time during the day. Specially after 3:00 PM when most theaters release all the available seats at the amazing shows for that evening. Great place to stop and have something to eat after the shows. Amazing feeling of a city that has a hard time to sleep at night.

Times Square is something that has to be seen to truly appreciate. However, be prepared to be overwhelmed with the amount of people and the sensory overload! Don't pose for pictures with or even interact with the characters in costumes, unless you intend to pay them. If you want to see Times Square at the least stressful time, go at 3am. And the best food in NYC is NOT in Times Square.

6 nights with my family at [Hotel Name] and had a wonderful experience. The location is excellent—just a short walk to Times Square and many other attractions, which made it very convenient for sightseeing with the family. The staff were very nice and helpful, always ready to assist with any requests. The restaurant offered a good breakfast with plenty of options, and the staff there were especially kind and attentive. Overall, we had a fantastic stay, and I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting New York.

The hotel has an excellent location in New York City, within walking distance of Times Square and Central Park. Despite being in the city centre, the area was surprisingly quiet. The room was nice and comfortable, and the hotel’s historic charm added character to our stay.

We stayed at this hotel as a family of four, and the room size was perfect for us. Having a counter with a sink, a dishwasher, and cabinets stocked with dishes was very convenient and added a nice touch of comfort and luxury. The furniture and curtains had a charming antique New York style, which gave the room a unique character. The location was also excellent, just a short walk from Times Square.

Arlo Midtown is a very stylish and beautifully designed hotel. The rooftop is definitely a highlight, offering an amazing view over the city skyline. The location is ideal — just far enough from the hectic bustle of Times Square to feel relaxed, but still central enough to explore and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere of New York City with ease. Also there’s a lovely café called Aroma nearby where you could enjoy a wonderful breakfast and Oliyo, a buffet restaurant offering all-day dining at a very affordable price.

Decent size room for a New York. Stayed on 15th floor at Queen double. Very happy to have a good hairdryer , iron and ironing board.TV in the room. Good shower ,always fresh towels in the morning. Very good location. Easy access to everywhere. From Grand Central to 5th Av. To Central Park or Times Square. Also over the road from other excellent hotels like Waldorf Astoria. So when you go out from front door it’s very clean and nice. Lovely people round. Coffeeshops and great breakfast place over the road.

The room where we stayed was pleasant and clean. The only downside; it was a bit small. However, that did not affect our stay significantly and we will consider booking the same room next time we visit New York. The hotel is located in the heart of Manhattan, making it easy to travel anywhere you may want to go. Broadway and Times Square are right around the corner. The hotel is also next to Emmy Squared, a restaurant serving great burgers and Detroit-style pizza.

Well located hotel in mid town within easy walking distance of Penn Station and Times Square. Fair sized room for central New York with twin queen beds big TV and well appointed facilities. Very clean and comfortable at a reasonable price for New York and its location. Staff helpful and friendly. On site bar a restaurant okay but nothing special and operates separately to the hotel.

As soon as we arrived, we were made very welcome by the staff, especially June at reception. We were upgraded to a very pleasant suite. The rooms are very spacious for New York and very well soundproofed. The hotel isn't modern, but it's conveniently located between Central Park and Times Square, with a bike station in front of the hotel. We'll be glad to come back.

Choose a substantial section of the city, say Lower Manhattan, plot the sights you wish to see on a map so that you do not have to retrace your steps, take public transit to your starting point and begin your exploration. We started at the 9/11 Memorial and worked our way north, including City Hall, the Merchant's House, Chinatown, the Bowery, Washington Square, the White Horse Tavern, the High Line and the Garment District. Of course, there were all kinds of surprises, which added to the experience. We began at 10 am and were back at our Times Square hotel by 4 pm.
