Situated at the base of the wild Tsitsikamma Mountains, The Fernery overlooks an impressive 30-metre waterfall in the Sanddrift River gorge. Wow, what an amazing experience to stay at The Fernery. This is one of the places we will remember for a long time. The setting of the hotel was fantastic. The Jacuzzi and Hot Tub ambiance also fantastic. The breakfast by wide margin the best in South Africa. Dinner was also very good and fairly priced.

This stay was unplanned and booked last minute. And we didn´t regret it! Tasty food, great wine and a lodge with a view over the game farm. The 2 game tours (evening and morning) ,included into the room rate, are fascinating. We saw all big 5, except leopard, but therefore Cheetahs on the hunt.

Elephant viewing area perfect. Breakfast and other meals in the restaurant perfect. You can go and feed the elephants any time you want (at 30-minute intervals) during the day. We also took a walk with the elephants at a reasonable extra cost (limited availability so you must book well in advance). Staff were super friendly.
