We wanted to visit the so-called Demon Slayer castle hotel. It’s out of the way so we rented a car rather than take transit. The drive itself was four hours from Tokyo. From the parking lot staff, to front desk, housekeeping and everyone there… the staff were all amazingly kind and patient. Not everyone speaks English, but there are a few. The rooms are spacious, clean, and very ryokan style (tatami) and the onsen was super clean. We had Kaiseki dinner and it was quite the experience. Food was delicious at dinner and the buffet lunch was traditionally Japanese. The stand out for us was the AIZU yogurt and AIZU maple syrup made from local chestnut trees. If anyone at Ookawaso reads this, please accept our thank you. You were all wonderful and we hope to visit from Canada again someday. Thank you for your patience with my eight year old son and our horrible Japanese.

Both dinner and breakfast were very delicious. The food arrangement was a combination mostly of typical Japanese dishes with a touch of western cuisine. We stayed on New Year's Eve so we even got some special dishes on top! For drinks, there were also several home-made ones (alcoholic and non-alcoholic) to choose from. The owner was extremely nice! He and his partner have a lot of international travel experience, especially in Latin America and Spain. They have very broad perspectives, so it's not a problem to stay as a foreigner even if you haven't been to Japan before. The inn of course has a natural hot spring bath, and we were able to book a time-slot to use privately. It is a remote location far away from the city, so we could enjoy some time away from the busy city and do some stargazing as well. They keep several cats which are very cute and friendly towards the guests.

Excellent ryokan, and the service is impeccable. Since this ryokan is in an isolated location, it is mostly suited for travellers who are well-versed in Japanese language and culture.

Located in Ashinomaki Onsen, 渓谷美の宿川音 provides air-conditioned rooms with private open-air hot spring bath. The staff is friendly and trying to explain everything even though they have a limited knowledge of English. They have also provided us with some tattoo-tickers for free. The public bath is nice and after it you can enjoy some milk or ice cream from a vending machine or play table tennis in a comfortable yukata provided by the hotel. The breakfast is excellent. I recommend the Japanese style rooms for foreigners as well for fun!

Guesthouse & Kitchen Hace se nachází v destinaci Iwaki a poskytuje pokoje s klimatizací a bar. Aquamarine Fukushima je 11 km daleko. Breakfast was individually organised and wrapped that made the whole experience a lot more unique. The whole building was an ex taxi noffice in traditional style. Had a cute little table for eating food. Don't expect spacious facilities, but if you are after traditional Japanese experience with home atmosphere, this Guesthouse is for you.

Lake View Inawashiro se nachází v destinaci Inawashiro a nabízí pokoje s výhledem na jezero. Jen 8,7 km odtud je Sopka Bandai. It’s my favorite type of low-tech hotels: it’s very quiet and comfortable. Rooms have a nice view, you can open windows and enjoy your stay.

Super Hotel Fukushima Iwaki se nachází v destinaci Iwaki v regionu Fukushima. Jen 16 km odtud je Aquamarine Fukushima. Tento hotel nabízí wellness centrum a pokoje s klimatizací a s vlastní koupelnou.... Clean, easy checkin and checkout. Breakfast also was much better than what I usually see in similar level hotels!
