Czech RepublicStaying at the Runavik Hotel was a very nice part of our trip to the Faroe Islands. We stayed for one night at first, but ended up staying for two more nights. The central location of the hotel was convenient for us, with nowhere far to go. We were also given a complimentary upgrade to the best room and although Booking didn't advertise it, breakfast was part of our stay. Everyone in the restaurant was also very nice, both the lady who took care of breakfast and the lady who served us for dinner. The breakfast deserves a special comment as it was very varied - sweet, savoury pastries, sausages, eggs, cold cuts, a wide range of cheeses, cereals etc. We can really recommend a stay in the hotel to anyone looking for comfort when travelling around the beautiful Faroe Islands.

They let me try some local culinary delicacies that you might not find at a restaurant, and that are part of the Faroese tradition, having evolved through the centuries as responses to the harsh, yet blessed and plentiful environment. You have a hot jacuzzi and a sauna just outside the apartment's door, above the slope facing the fjord. It is so energizing and relaxing, in the same, time to be able to contemplate the changing lights in the sky, and the fishing village in front. The apartment is very relaxing, and totally private because facing the fjord. Anyway, local people mind their own life and do not oogle at you. There is also a bbq! everything is to be liked there. The owner gifted me with tasty halibut which I enjoyed immensely!
