Its functional simplicity and positive vibes, nicely minimal with a wonderful internal garden and restaurant, lovable staff with a Burundian huge heart, superb cuisine (oh that chicken!) and of course with Valery, the owner: A new Burundian-Belgian Friend of mine, sociable, helpful with knowledge for the Country and good English. I felt really at home! Thank you so much for the experience, Val, I hope to come again in your little oasis! A comment also for Burundi: I loved it, it's a safe Country everywhere, the drummers are FANTASTIC don't miss them!, places, forests, parks are unique and safe, food is ok and clean, people are hospitable, sweet and polite but please ...don't walk alone at night. Take one of all these cheap safe taxis, always ! :)

Hotel Club du Lac Tanganyika is located in a wide park that ends up on a marvelous beach on the banks of the Lake Tanganyika. The pool, room location on the lake, the glorious breakfast, dinner, bar service. Including being able to go from morning swim directly to breakfast (also lakeside). The shop. The drum and dance performance. Staff delightful and accommodating. Room spaciousness and decor, bathroom efficient design. Balcony and its lakeside view. The synchronicity that colleagues happened to be staying there as well resulting in productive meetings, exchanges and planning.

Staff was very helpful. We love Clovis. Terry (Spelling?) did amazing job pursuing excellent service. He had Clovis walk and get a Taxi for us, you never find that kind of service here. The place was kept clean (Yeah Desire). I appreciated the LOCATION. It is close enough to downtown but far enough away to avoid the FUMES and NOISE of downtown. And having the farmers market so close and ability to pick up a taxi so close was really good. Having the closed gate and security made me feel safe. Enjoyed the pool.

I spent ten days at the Maison d'Accueil (aka "Maison du Passage") in Kamenge with my girlfriend. It's a practical and respectable accomodation for travellers, in a very safe and lively neighborhood. The Maison has a kitchen and can prepare breakfasts, dinners and lunches if required. Around the corner (50 meters away) there also is a fully fledged bar and restaurant run by the same organization (Bar Oasi Amahoro). The personnel of the maison is utterly welcoming, friendly and helpful. They speak French, Italian, and some English - beside Kirundi. The personnel can support you in finding local drivers and guides to visit Bujumbura and the nearby hills and provinces. Notice that this is a non-profit, social impact business: the Maison is managed by Fondazione San Filippo Neri, based in Bujumbura, yet with an Italian founder (padre Luigi Vitella). The Foundation supports Burundian orphans, widows, and disadvantaged people and families. The activity of the Maison (and of the Amahoro bar) is aimed at funding the Foundation and promoting employment and economy in this part of the city. In case you are interested to know more about their activities and projects, the Maison's personnel can organize presentations and guided tours. Strongly recommend for travellers and people seeking to understand the the culture, the recent history and the present of Burundi.

Loved the food!!! But they need to always change the sheets. I don't have to tell them. They were helpful on every request I made. Will definitely be back.
