The beach right down the street is beautiful and empty and you can rent so many different water activities! Only thing: restaurants around the place are often closed or far away, you can take the bus there (which is going every half an hour until ~19:00) or make sure you have at least something you can eat ready at the hostel so in case you don't find something you are settled. There is a convenience store right next to the hostel.

The breakfast was absolutely delicious, and on my last day, Kami even prepared some homemade onigiri for me to take for lunch, they were so tasty and such a thoughtful gesture. I truly felt cared for throughout my stay. This was the best place I stayed at in Japan, and when I return to Amami, I will definitely come back here.
