FO staff has good command of the english language, making communication less difficult. They are not shy to greet guests passing to and fro. Upon inquiry, staff recommended “Liebe” as “steak place,” and we had a blast! Steak was very good and not expensive, allowing us to bring our own wine upon payment of minimal corkage…bravo! The hotel is very secured with a big main door that requires guests’ keycards to open it and an elevator that automatically sets guests to their respective floors. Rooms have separate toilet and bath, well-provided with amenities/toiletries and it is possible to open the window to let Kumamoto’s cool winter breeze (brrrrr🥶) in. There are english-speaking channels available and coffee at the lounge is free-flowing.

Open from September 2019, only 150 metres from JR Hakata Train Station, Miyako Hotel Hakata offers stylish rooms with a flat-screen TV and a private bathroom. I didn’t have breakfast in the hotel but the location is great.
