Located in Matsushima, 10 km from Shiogama Shrine, Matsushima Koumura features accommodation with a hot tub and a public bath. Such a friendly place to stay. The owners and staff were exceptionally nice. The room was beautiful and a great size. And the onsen was lovely. A close walk to many attractions and always lovely to come back to.

Situated in Takagi, 11 km from Shiogama Shrine, Bridge33 CAFE AND HOSTEL features air-conditioned accommodation and a bar. Very nice people, clean facilities, cute bar downstairs, with spacious rooms and delicious breakfast (paid). It was a very enjoyable experience. Please do mind that most activity plays at the other part of Matsushima, which is about half an hour walking.

The property is lovely and the owner/host extremely friendly and helpful, a man happy with his life. He provided free transport to and from the ferry to cat island, and back to the train station. He has many cats that guests are welcome to interact with. Highly recommend this hotel. We were sad to leave this one. Very good value for money.

It’s a ryokan style hotel, with onsen, which allow tattoos and a private onsen too, which is amazing! The views of the ocean are breathtaking, as well as the many small islands that fill the horizon. The staff are beyond amazing and the room was just fantastic! 10/10!
