This was one the best hotels i stayed in my time in Sri Lanka. The staff was great and the owner even more so. I did a tour with him through the knuckle forest reserve and it was absolutely beautiful. He also knew a great deal about the places we went to and the local community. The hotel was clean, had a good vibe and the vieuw from my room was amazing. 2 other rooms where being built and he had plans to put in a pool. If this place gets known, its going to be packed with tourist. I would highly recommend this place and if i ever go to Sri Lanka again, this hotel is going to be at the top of my list.

Everything was amazing: the food, the amazing service with Jason in charge (best so far in Sri Lanka) and the great guide Charaka who accompanied us to a small trek in the jungle with my 3 years old son. The bungalows are clean, the beds are comfy and there is everything you need - if they don’t have already in the room, you ask and they find a solution! The views are incredible! We spent Christmas there, they went all the way into creating a Christmas tree with lights on the heliport so we could have dinner around it - a special barbecue. The food is also a fair price for the quality you get.

Overall, our stay at A Frame Riverston was nothing short of magical, and I highly recommend it to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat amidst stunning natural beauty.

Jennifer deserves a special mention for her outstanding hospitality. Despite our late-night check-in at 1 am, she made my arrival seamless and stress-free. Her dedication to ensuring our comfort was evident right from the start, and her warm welcome instantly made us feel at home. One of the standout features of Hilltop Retreat is undoubtedly the breathtaking view it offers. The picturesque vistas of Matale and its surroundings were absolutely mesmerizing. Everything! Amazing location with great views - we watched the sunset from our room. Staff were all very friendly and polite, very accommodating, we went during low season so we were the only guests and they arranged breakfast lunch and dinner whenever we wanted. All the food was delicious and such huge portions! One of the days we had a private guide drive us to various view points in the area and reception organised our taxi from the airport and to our next location and everything went very smoothly.
