I had an amazing time at Suba and Lalee’s place. There are those extremely kind and generous guests that you will remember from your trip in Sri Lanka. I felt warmly welcomed and very safe as a female solo traveler. They are very helpful, you will have some good chats about what it is like in Sri Lanka, amazing diner and breakfast, the room is very clean and new… They also organise tuktuk tours to go to the top of the island for a very decent price. The place is brand new, super clean, and the rooms are really spacious with solid, good-quality furniture — nothing cheap or flimsy. There’s a chill shared space with a well-equipped kitchen if you feel like cooking or making yourself a tea or coffee, and a comfy little lobby with sofas where you can hang out and chat with other travelers. Ended up meeting folks from Germany, Italy, France, and the US — really cool mix of people. The house runs on solar power, which I loved — eco-friendly without making a fuss about it. The owners are genuinely lovely people, running the place in a fair and honest way. It’s got that rare combo of comfort and community. Would definitely stay here again.

Clean, fresh, cared for. Everything worked. The staff are fantastic and Niro will provide suggestions for everything including what to see and where to eat. His restaurant recommendation gave us the best meal yet in Sri Lanka which is down near the Dutch Fort in Mannar. We had the chicken fried rice, chilli beef and ghee roti. Ice cream to finish! Loved it! They also filter their own water and provide it free to stay clear of single use plastic.
