This was such a unique property—very remote, yet close to the nearby town of Dalen. The kitchen was well equipped and we made dinner (there were four of us staying in the two cabins) and foraged for mushrooms and berries at the hosts encouragement and guidance. We also utilized the breakfast items and our leftovers to make omelettes in the morning before we left. We used the amazing sauna and small pond on the property in the evening. The beds were comfortable, bathrooms were great and the sunrise was unbelievable. The mirrored cabins are not to be missed. We spent a LOT of time taking photos!

Boasting a sauna, Lakeview Vrådal Hyttegrend is situated in Vradal. The property features lake views. Very nice cabin with a great view over the nother part of Lake Nisser into the valley of Vråvatn. The cabin was very comfortable with a lot of space. We could even charge our electric car directly at the cabin. When we tried this the first time, the wallbox didn't work but that was fixed by our friendly host already on the next day!

Situated in Rjukan in the Telemark region, Gaustatoppen Lodge - Mountain View - Gaustablikk features a patio and quiet street views. It is located 6.7 km from Gaustatoppen and features a lift. Well... I have to sit down for this one. This is by far the best apartment I've ever been in. Though brand new, the interior looks and feels like an old mountain lodge. So much little details that makes you feel totally at ease. The size of the balcony with the stupendous view of Gaustatop. Out of this world. The host was very helpful when I had a question. Like the Michelin ratings: * = worth the visit, ** = worth the detour, *** = worth the journey. This is a *** place.

Set in Tuddal, 12 km from Gaustatoppen, Tuddal Høyfjellshotel offers accommodation with a fitness centre, free private parking, a garden and a terrace. We came to Norway from New York for a family trip across country from Oslo to Bergen in April 2023 and we had booked in for a night at Tuddal Høyfjellshotel to break up the drive. It was our first trip to Norway and had no idea that we were going to have one of the absolute best experiences of the entire trip together there. The place is simply beautiful. The people there are incredibly attentive and helpful. The food at dinner and breakfast is world class. The location is stunning. As a personal side note to the owners: My father came to the U.S. from Kongsberg when he was in his very early 20’s and started his new life and family. Growing up in Southern California where my brother and I were exposed to a lot of the antique Scandinavian items, colors, and style. My father was a committed collector at flea markets and swap meets everywhere, and anytime he came across an old collectible related to his homeland, he would proudly bring it home and share the story of it with us, and then find a place to display it in their home. When we came into the main building to check in to our rooms, I told my 17 and 20 year old daughters, “this…this is the story your Grandfather was trying tell us with all those things”.

With mountain views, Løvheim Gjestehus is located in Sauland and has a restaurant, an ATM, bar, garden, sun terrace and picnic area. great service, so friendly and helpful that made us feel greatly satisfied. Strongly recommend.

Situated in Flatdal, 43 km from Heddal stave church, Nutheim Gjestgiveri features accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. The hostess was så friendly and we felt very welcome. We talked a lot with her.. We liked the hotell very much, cosy and så many nice paintings and a good atmosfere in the hotell. Marvelous breakfast, nice large rom and good beds. We slept very well.

Featuring a garden, shared lounge and views of quiet street, Nordbø Pensjonat is set in Hjartdal, 48 km from Bø Summerland. Just Wonderful! Calm and quiet, perfect for a relaxing stop. Very well maintained, tidy and friendly. Don't be put off by the shared facilities, they only have a few rooms and showers/bathrooms are very, very fresh (and you have water in the room as well). Nice breakfast, not a large buffet but everything you need. Do take this road instead of the tunnel and stop here! Good parking, possible to buy homemade dinner too. It tasted very well and was freshly prepared on order.
