I was nervous about the small size of the room before we arrived, but one we saw how it was designed and organized, we found it to be perfect for our needs. Property was clean, staff was friendly and welcoming, breakfast was good and at a breathtaking location.

Great central location, 5 minute walk down to the sea, activities, restaurants etc. The hotel is fresh, clean, has a roof top pool and bar for the moments when you aren’t sightseeing. And the staff are so friendly and helpful. Fab buffet breakfast.

Overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Casa das Proteas is located at Estrada das Covas nº8, São Jorge, Madeira Island, 50 km from Funchal. The location is excellent as a starting point for several hikes. Owner is very nice and she cooks very well! Breakfast was good and the room was clean and comfy! We had a nice ocean view!

For breakfast, you could choose from 5-6 warm meals (eggs, French toast, asparagus..) and a cold buffet (from cereals, croissants and local cheese to pastel de nata). The portions from the menu were smaller but in combination with the cold buffet, the breakfast was just awesome! We stayed in the with the "garden view ", however we could still see and hear the sea. The view was stunning.

Our stay at this hotel in Madeira was absolutely unforgettable. The hotel itself was incredibly beautiful — from the architecture to the gardens and the breathtaking views all around. The room was tastefully decorated, every detail, from the design to the little touches, added to the overall charm. Breakfast was fresh and delicious and what really stood out was the service — friendly, helpful, and always with a smile. We felt completely relaxed, surrounded by beauty, nature, and peace. Truly one of the most beautiful places we’ve ever stayed. We truly didn’t want to leave. Can’t wait to return to this little piece of paradise!
