One of the best places I've stayed at during my travels through South America! This newish hostel is located just one block from the main plaza . It is super clean, comfortable, safe, and quiet. The owners are incredibly kind, helpful, and welcoming. Sometimes you will get a morning coffee and there's free fruit and tea. One of the best parts is the kitchen--it is the best stocked kitchen I've used in a hostel--stove, oven, toaster, and coffee maker and tons of pots and pans that are in good condition and plates, bowls, utensils to use. Everything works and it's just a pleasant place to make a meal. This place just feels like home. The hostel has both private rooms and dorm rooms. For those staying in the dorm rooms, you get a large towel and a face towel (unheard of in Latin America) and you don't need to pay extra. The private rooms do not have en-suite bathrooms. But there are plenty of bathrooms to use. They are clean, and the showers have good water pressure and consistent hot water. The location is another plus. There are plenty of restaurants and grocery stores within walking distance. If you are coming by bus, you could easily walk to the hostel from the station. It will be about a 20-minute walk (no hills). An Uber cost me about 2,500 pesos. I have stayed at two other places in Salta and Clivias Hostel is so much better than the other places I've stayed at.

EDIFICIO ALVARADO ligger i Salta, 7 minutters gang fra Cabildo Histórico de Salta og 700 m fra Plaza 9 de Julio. Her er aircondition. Marcela and Julio provided me all the help I could have asked for. They catered for my requests, including letting me leave my suitcase in their care for a couple of days (not something one should expect for accommodation of this type). Both provided me recommendations for restaurants and activities. Julio even gave me a quick tour of the plaza as he dropped me off at the accommodation after picking me up at the airport (pickup is a paid extra). They do not comfortably speak English, but we made good use of technology to communicate.

The silence and beauty of the surroundings were incredible. The home is rustic and comfortable and 100% authentic. All that is fine but it’s our hosts that make the experience truly remarkable. Federico and Rocio went above and beyond to ensure we had a lovely stay from the moment we booked until after we left. Our all time favorite stay in all of Argentina! Plus vegan/vegetarian friendly!!! Brilliant!

I'm glad I was there on a clear night; it's a place you can see all the stars from. This is a very spacious and well-appointed cottage in a super-serene location. Woke up to probably the best Andes vista I found during my time in Salta. It's a very cute getaway with a lot of character, sheep and dogs on the property, and the hosts were friendly, flexible and accommodating. Wish I stayed longer.
