The garden that the apartment looks onto is magnificent. The owner, Marcus is very welcoming, kind and helpful. The sunlit apartment is modern, beautifully equipped and very comfortable. It was a bonus to park onsite but there seems to be plenty of street parking available too.

It's a very nice and cosy place with only several rooms (I think just five), so it's very quiet. The room was really large with all facilities needed. The owners are very helpful. This is a beautifully restored historic building with all the charm you can imagine. Immaculate and updated interior, with comfortable beds, fully appointed kitchen, and nice bathroom/shower. The grounds have stunning flower gardens surrounded by mature trees, an organic vegetable garden, bucolic pastures with horses and the most quaint castle built in 1623. You feel like you have been transported to another era. There are miles of walking trails that are accessible from the property. The surrounding area is wooded with areas of open pasture. The host was lovely. She took us on a brief tour of the grounds and was very informative about the history of the estate. She cheerfully accommodated our dietary restrictions. The breakfast was delicious! Fresh cheeses and fruit, pastries, jams, and the most incredible yogurt with nut granola!! We came to Heerde to visit the birthplace of my ancestors, and this property was the perfect quiet retreat. I could just imagine my Dutch ancestors walking up the country lane to the castle in the 1650's. Magical.
