I love this place--and I can't remember the last time I wrote that on a booking.com review. Brand new wooden cabins squeezed in a tight valley in the middle of the woods, next to a little stream of water. The lodges owner lives in a cabin next door, warm welcome and always willing to help. The cabin was squeaky clean, had everything I could desire and even more (a piano!). The private onsen is a few steps away from the cabin, if you want something more social there's plenty of public onsens around (one down the road has a view on the river). Quiet, fresh air, plenty of hikes a short drive away. I stayed in the middle of winter, heating and thermal insulations were on point.

The personal was very welcoming and super friendly. The rooms are beautiful, the bed comfortable and the view towards the ocean and mountains stunning. We liked as well a lot the bonfire and the exchange with the other guests and personal.

We reserved a cabin and requested for charcoal bbq (top up a small fee for the charcoal bbq). Love the BBQ right at our glamping unit. They provide vegetables, rice, soup and drinks for bbq, they are self-service and complimentary. Breakfast is also provided by self service too. Staff are helpful and friendly. Really a lovely experience.

Incredible staff who took care of every detail. The location is gorgeous and very close to Mt. Aso and several other natural attractions—perfect for nature lovers. We booked the private onsen several times and really enjoyed it. The breakfast and dinner had a variety of choices we enjoyed. The hotel even let us use purchase our yukata. Great experience!!!

Tsuetate Onsen Hotel Hizenya features a sauna and free private parking, and is within 43 km of Mount Aso and 47 km of Kinrinko Lake. A very beautiful Onsen with amazing staff! They really make you feel very welcome and very special. The staff would always catch up for a chat and went out of their way to give us little extras on many occasions!
