SloveniaThis is really a top hotel. Modern rooms with safe inside, closets and perfect bathroom. They are really nicely sound proofed and they brag with that. We did not have breakfast, but the reception and the bar/resturant were well visited, so I assume people liked it there. It was a single night stay, so we could not fully enjoy the experience, but I would come back anytime for certain.

We were with a toddler and we didn’t have to be worried about her as this place has something for all ages be it adults, teenagers or toddlers. There are enough play area, kids activity rooms, games, outdoor play area and lovely pools. The surroundings are so beautiful for short walk and hike in the nature. We also got access to free cable car rides during our stay (may be it’s seasonal). There are also enough parking and car charging options.

Gradonna is a resort perfectly incorporated into the surrounding nature, with top products , top chefs and top design, which should be enough to make it irresistible to every nature loving tourist. However what makes it really stand out is the amazing staff, who are all, without exception, among the best we have ever had contact with. they are the reason we will be coming back.

The breakfast was typical with a large selection of cheeses, hams, jams, fruits,... But the real attraction was the dinner. I have not yet eaten such good food for such a low price. The room had a lovely smell of a freshly cut wood. The staff in general was very friendly and useful and made us feel very welcome. The location is great for exploration of the Defereggental.

We were travelling around the southern Austrian Alps and the hotel is a good choice fir a short 1-day stopover.
The hotel is located just 5-10 min walk from the town center. Ample and free car park provided by the hotel.
Rooms were ready ahead of our arrival - clean rooms, comfy beds.

The accommodation offers a wide range of services. The wellness area is excellent, the rooms are spacious, and the hotel's cleanliness was up to standard. The restaurant was also good. Overall, we had a great time and plan to return in the future. For a three-star hotel, I think it's a very good choice.

Not sure Lienz is on traveller's radar.
Not sure Lienz is on traveller's radar. It's a must when travelling to Austria. Easy to get to by train from Germany and from within Austria. A small town easily navigated on foot. It's stunning. It was a shame the gondola was not operating though.

Matrei is narrow and there are many cars and no pedestrians walkways. Be prepared that the restaurants are expensive, an inflation of at least 100% over the last five years. Avoid bank holidays for your stay and make sure that you can buy a Leberkäs-Semmel in a Supermarket when necessary.

There was small festival for the tourists, in the evenings local group played well known songs, it had pleasant community atmosphere. Everything you need is there, so close (shops, culture, ski slopes, mountains). Very pleasant people, helpful.

We loved this hotel and will use it again, the setting was...
We loved this hotel and will use it again, the setting was beautiful with fir trees both. Sides of the road. All the essentials are there, large spar supermarket, fuel station which was a very reasonable price. 4 restaurants, one we had lunch in, which we could see and a bank. There are regular buses but we did not use them. Daytime was between 28 - 31 degrees, in the valley it was cooler which made it easier to sleep. The rides out on our motorbike were fantastic. It’s a short trip to Italy with some fantastic twisty winding roads with hairpin bends, we did both passes, you are closed to the Grossglockner from the south a fantastic trip. The Kals am Grossglockner, the water fall on the way, the 5euro road (private road) to Schliederlerhof, twisty, winding, hairpin road and a great lunch at the top. There were many people there walking the trails. Our last trip was to Weissensee (white lake) swimming lake, the on up the mountain to kaiser Franz Josef monument, up to the top and down the other side into Weissbriach for a late lunch. We would not avoid anything is was just very beautiful.

This hotel is just a diamond in one single word.
This hotel is just a diamond in one single word. There are too many topics to mention why I came to this conclusion.
When you love the mountains and you would like to have an amazing stay, you have to book this hotel. Each facet of your list will be checked and at the end you are surprised of the total cost. This is really more than acceptable for all what this hotel offers you.
You will return with a smile on your face and looking forward when you plan a next stay.

It is a small village with more or less any shops you need.
It is a small village with more or less any shops you need. There are many hiking paths to enjoy and because it is early in the season there are no crowds and bikes around. You have to check the little paths because sometimes the owner of the land just closes the path and you have to make a bigger round.
There are castle ruins to be visited, huts and beautiful forest paths with stunning views.

A beautiful small village of old wooden houses, bedecked with flowers, and friendly people. A great centre for exploring the area, winter or summer. Gondola to the Golzentipp (ski, hill walking, great views) from just behind the church.
Excellent sports equipment shop in the village. And the beautiful church of St Ulrich.

Lavant is a good place to stay for visiting the area. it's a little village just down the Lienzer Dolomiten. You can do hikes, MBT or riverside cycle or iron path. For climbing it isn't a really major place. there are some spots, but not memorable.
Just few km away it is plenty of supermerkets and any kind of shops, but remember that in Austria all is closed after 19 and saturday. Even during summer.
In my opinion the best places to stay nearby Lienz are Lavant and Amlach on the suth bank of the Drava.

The city is great for relaxation. The views are stunning and you are very close to good restaurants and shopping area, within 5 minutes drive. Kals Am Grossglockner ski lifts are within easy reach at 20 minutes drive.

I grew up nearby.
I grew up nearby. It's a beautiful, small city in the middle of the Alps. Suitable for Summer and Winter holiday. Check out the restaurants outside of the city e.g., Im Stadl, Hollunderhof or Hotel Tristachersee.
