It was great being able to use the pool and spa area. The owners and staff were very friendly and helpful. The location is close to Vandans ski lift with a hotel shuttle bus if you don't feel like walking. Superb food in the restaurant.

HungaryThe location of the hotel is great! Easy access on foot or by car, public transport. I would like to highlight the staff! Especially the ones working in the bar. They are very friendly, polite and nice. You can play table tennis or billard at the lobby. There is a ski room where you can wash clothes as well.

This was a special stay. We booked already somewhere in December for our stay beginning of June. But somewhere end January, beginning of February the hotel decided - for all sound reasons - to reduce opening days in Spring (a traditional low season period) and close on Sundays and Mondays. We had booked arriving Monday.
As we were not flexible in the day of our stay - on a cycling holiday from Belgium to Italy - the hotel manager prepared a room for us and personally welcomed us and checked us in.
We had a very relaxing night in the hotel where we were the only guests. A special experience with many thanks to Tomas, the manager.

Lovely views, great room, comfy bed, excellent staff (multilingual), historic. Very easy to get there on public transport. Huge choice at breakfast. 5 min walk to lifts or one stop on the bus.

Useful stepping off point for experiencing the Montafon area...
Useful stepping off point for experiencing the Montafon area on foot; or, as a base for exploring Montafon by bus or car. Trains to Tschagguns / Schruns are easy. I went London - Paris (Eurostar) - Zurich (TGV Lyria) - Bludenz - Tschagguns in one day. In Tschagguns I like the the Gasthof Lowen (Austrian food) and Dimis the greek restaurant. The pizza place is fine too but the others are I think the best!

Beautifully enclosed alpine valley, with just enough amenities such as shopping facilities without being too much. Wonderful restaurants serving a variety of dishes for all tastes. Also, there are several gondolas- ski lifts in the Montafon valley, some of which are also open during seasonal low periods. There are as well abundant hiking trails and many points of interest.

Great mountain for hiking and walks with children and or dogs. Restaurant Schafberg on the mountain does a fabulous buffet breakfast if you book a table in advance. Huge selection and the kids will tank up before you try to walk off the calories. Recommend the trikes for downhill fun with kids from around 5 y.o. onwards. Don't forget to book a trike before you go up the mountain. You can do this at the Gondola base station or online from 7am. It can sell out fast each day in peak seasons so book ahead. Playground decent and there are lovely lakes to visit. At the right time of year the place is covered in european blueberries you can pick and eat on you walks. You won't be disappointed. Gargellen is one of our personal top 2 picks in Voralberg.

Sankt Anton is a very good location for those who love skiing, hiking, mountain biking and running. For those enjoying bigger cities Innsbruck is a 2-hr drive away, Bregenz under one hour, Vaduz/Liechtenstein 40 mins.

Schruns is quite modern Austrian Alps village, and everything well maintained and modern. Village is family friendly and not so busy than bigger skiing areas near by.
Skiing area is a good size for few days skiing and there is possibilities for off piste in case of good / new snow conditions. Only challenge is the capacity of Hochjoch bahn and long queues there, otherwise ski lifts are quite modern and worked well.

I personally love Alps, but unfortunately during spring...
I personally love Alps, but unfortunately during spring season it's mostly not worth visiting. This is the part that disappoints me the most as it's a beautiful nature and probably the most unique and picturesque mountain ranges in Europe, but during the spring season it becomes very inaccessible. A lot of high mountain roads are not accessible for regular people by car, most (if not all) cable cars are closed, most attractions are closed, most panorama roads are closed, most restaurants and places are closed, it almost looks like desert. And this was so contrasting to Tatras mountain range in Poland and Slovakia, where during the same period and the same trip we experienced completely the opposite - many tourists, everything open, many attractions, all cable cars working, etc.
While being a bit cheaper during this period, the prices are still completely unreasonable for the experience you get during this period, so I would not recommend it.

Schruns was attractive and characterful. The skiing is fun with lots of tree runs and itineraries and would be amazing for skiing with fresh powder.
I would not recommend staying at the Hotel Krone.
