AustriaFirst of all, the staff was extremely friendly and helpful, we first had a room in the "Schachner in the park" and then moved into the main building which has a direct access to the spa and the restaurant and bar. The view was absolutely exceptional, with a broad horizon and the autumn colors ....The food was absolutely delightful.
The spa with the infinity pool and again the wonderful view was great, as are the possibilities for walks and hiking. We definitely will go back! thank you

Hotel Ur-Wachau is nothing short of amazing. From the moment we arrived, we felt wrapped in warmth and elegance. The charm of the historic building, the attention to detail in every corner, and the genuine hospitality make it a rare gem.
The rooms are spotless—truly pristine. I even sat in the beautiful breakfast room trying to spot anything made of plastic, just out of curiosity, and found nothing. Everything is thoughtfully chosen, beautifully maintained, and deeply authentic.
Breakfast was a highlight—local flavors, homemade delicacies, and served in what feels like a fairytale chapel. The whole experience radiates care and intention.
If you’re looking for a place that’s serene, inspiring, and truly sustainable, look no further. I can’t recommend it enough. Just wow.

It is a very nicely renovated hotel, which is tastefully set in a landscape of vineyards. The towering ruins of the castle, which you look at when you have breakfast in the morning in a beautiful garden restaurant, or when you go to bed in the evening, will remind you of how fertile the region is. The quality of the wines and the skill of the chef in the local restaurant will make your stay very interesting and unforgettable.

My daughter and I went up for the weekend to visit Xmas markets and the museum. It's a beautiful old town and we always enjoy our time there. Very relaxing and of course the Wachau is beautiful any time of the year.

Nice to walk around by the riversides and within the city. Restaurant "Mahlzeit in Melk" has friendly staff, worth to sit in if hungry.

We were on the way to Budapest and for us Pöchlarn was a great stop. We also wanted to visit Melk Abbey and Pöchlarn was ideally placed for an afternoon tour. However, since we only stayed one night I cannot judge the village or its surroundings.

Dürstein is an absolutely beautiful place. Very quiet. Especially in the evening. There are not many opportunities for evening entertainment. The castle ruins above the village are definitely worth a visit.

Very friendly owner, clean place, although wi-fi passwords were outdated, shower is a bit small and the stove could use some cleaning and a baking tray. The price to service ratio is, however, very good.
The town itself is very small, nothing special to see here, but the location is quite close to sightseeing areas so we booked 2 nights.

Melk is a charming, quiet town where I would return as many times as possible. Melk Abbey is extremely imposing, beautiful and full of history. It is a must visit. The Abbey gardens are also splendid. Walking around the town or on the banks of the Danube is a pleasure. There are plenty of restaurants and cafes. You can also take cruises on the Danube.

Wachau is an absolutely wonderful destination for people who love good food, fantastic wine and beautiful scenery and architecture. A bicycle tour is a great choice, as one can explore in their own pace the villages and vineyards and anytime stop and wonder at the historic architecture, castles and fortresses and breathtaking views of the Danube and surrounding landscapes.
Dürnstein is one of Wachau's jewels, certainly worth taking the time to visit, from the atmospheric medieval cobbled streets, to the impressive architecture and of course the ruins on the hill, known as where once Richard Lionheart was imprisoned.

Destination is suitable for Wachau location, not far to Melk, however far from road noise. In Emmersdorf there is a couple of restaurant , just grocery shop is missing, it is temporary closing . the hotel located along the road are a bit noisy but houser further in the village are all fine
