After a friendly welcome from the owner and his daughter we got the key to our lovely room with a balcony. It's very spacious, has a big bed, a sofa and table with two comfortable chairs. The bathroom is modern and everything is absolutely clean. You can have different coffee specialties and tea for free in the lobby. A big fridge contains softdrinks, local beer and some wine to small prices. In the afternoon the owner offers some cake for his guests, also for free. In the evening we enjoyed the garden with nice furniture, a big trampoline, a boule field and a cat that shared some time with us. Absolutely incredible is the served breakfast which you can order to your favourite time and that is brought to your room. Everything you need and much more (we had sweet strawberries and fresh pineapple the other day). It's delicious and made with love. No chance to eat it all up.
In a few minutes by foot you are in the national parc Bosland. A beautiful place for walking around in the woods and with a "Sahara", lakes and a tower with a spectacular view over the area. We've spent a lot of time there.
Thank you very much, we love this place and definitely will come back!

On arrival Yana gave us a really friendly welcome with lots of information regarding the local area and her botel. Yana went above and beyond to recommend somewhere to eat and make a table reservation for us. The cabin was well appointed, quiet and comfortable. We had everything we needed and enjoyed a relaxing, peaceful stay and a good night’s sleep.
There was a good variety of breakfast items, all cooked fresh and of good quality. Thank you for an enjoyable stay.

The location was peaceful and the accommodation very comfortable. We enjoyed walking through the woods in the evening to a lovely restaurant overlooking the lake. It was an easy drive into Maastrict and also the pretty village of Oud Rekem - both worth a visit. We did not go into Lanaken itself as our time there was too short.

We have stayed before and it was good.
We have stayed before and it was good. This time, however, we were not informed that the restaurant was closed. It's in a remote place so having to get back in the car after a long journey didn't suit us. The windmill was covered with scaffolding - again, not informed that workmen were around. Only one other guest, and hosts were not present until we waited 20/30 minutes for them to come to let us in, and the woman came back for breakfast (which had to be chosen on arrival by way of a tick-sheet). As I said, it's in a remote place so nowhere to walk to; around 20 mins drive to town or shopping outlet.
Sadly, the changes have turned it into a place we won't be visiting again.

I was not impressed that I could not get breakfast at the hotel. Instead I had to visit another restaurant at center parcs.

The place was very cozy and clean, the location of this house was very beautiful, situated next to the Vijverzicht lake. The house contained all of the necessary things needed for a stay. Perfect location to travel around the Limburg area, with very good access to grocery shoppings and restaurants in the vicinity. Close to Maastricht as well. Very good value for money.

Maasmechelen is an excellent place to stay to visit the area where Belgium, the Netherlands and Germany meet. Recommend traveling by car. Maasmechelen is close to roads going to Maastricht, Aachen and Antwerp. Restaurants, supermarkets and the Maasmechelen Village Mall are nearby. Maasmechelen is also next to the Hoge Kempen National Park.

Turnhout is pleasant enough, but not the most interesting...
Turnhout is pleasant enough, but not the most interesting place in Belgium. The town centre is walkable but there isn’t a lot to see. There are a lot of vacant shops and the commercial centre looks like it’s not doing too well. The train service to Antwerp and Brussels is OK.
The highlights are the playing card museum, the main square, the castle and the churches.
To be honest, I don’t know why anyone would visit Turnhout unless you had something specific to do there, as I had. Last year I was in Leuven, which is well worth a visit.

We were in Lommel to visit a geocaching event.
We were in Lommel to visit a geocaching event. The city counsel actively participated to make it a success. On Sunday we visited a tour organised by the tourist information around the Lommel Sahara with local food and drinks. In between we enjoyed the small but cosy city centre and the glass museum.
