United StatesOur three night stay was wonderful. The staff was responsive and helpful throughout our stay. The setting was beautiful, with abundant birdlife and scenery. The breakfast one of the best we’ve had anywhere, and we did eat at their restaurant two nights and food was excellent. It is a little outside of the main road, but we easily made several day trips and great to come back in the evening to a true Refugio. I would say a car is necessary for this stay.

I'd been to Castro several times, but this was my first during high season, and I'd advise travelers that unless you like sitting in backed-up traffic ('taco') for long stretches, just avoid Castro from mid-January to late February, when trying to drive from anywhere north of Castro to anywhere south of Castro can take hours. November-December are great, however, and I'm told March is the best month of all. By and large, Chiloé's charms are not to be found in the cities.Guest review byDan
