HungaryThe apartment was big and clean with all the things you need for a good stay. Very good location close to the market, the bus stop, the stores and the restaurants. The staff is super helpful and kind. The breakfast comes with a lot of fresh fruit, eggs, avocadoes! Very nice service at a very reasonable price. I would choose it again when staying in Santa Marta.

AustraliaRooms were good size, bed very comfortable, view from the balcony was spectacular. The steam room in the spa was great as I haven't found many places in Colombia that have them. Pool area was nice though we didn't use it as we were only there one night. Staff were very friendly and efficient.

The food was incredible — we had six meals in total and every single one was amazing. 2 waterfalls both 15 minutes walk either way. United KingdomWe arrived late afternoon which meant our room was ready straight away. The hotel were helpful in advance letting us of the park entrance ticket booth closing time which meant we arrived before closing time (5pm). The hotel is beautiful, the views are fantastic and the sky was clear both nights we were there which meant we could stargaze from our terrace. It was super quiet and peaceful. Right by one of the main entrances to the park, easy to find and very easy to start our hike into the park early in the morning. They have a pingpong table and board games in the dining room which were fun to play in the evenings too. We will be back!

No very impressive. The good thing is in the Sierra Nevada and there is a cool places nearby to visit as Minca.
But Santa Marta need people that care more about it around good places but it need TLC urgently. Is dirty require maintenance from local government and residents

We loved the Rio Piedras river, which was accessible from the beautiful SENDA Koguiwa hotel.
Stay was too short to go to the Tayrona park or the beach. BUT we will allow for more days to do this on our next trip.

It’s a nice little town with a bunch of activities and places to go and explore, you will also find a lot of interesting characters between the locals and other foreigners that live there, it’s worth of it if you wanna discover more of the northern culture of Colombia and the beautiful spots this area offer.

Guachaca was a nice tiny village to stay in with proximity to both Buritaca and Costeño beaches and Tayrona park. It's easy to catch the bus to take you along the main road to these other towns and some hikes. You can swim in the Guachaca river and there is a hike up to a waterfall on the river as well, Cascada Saltillo.

Taganga offers a unique vibe but isn’t the best beach destination. Nearby beaches can be a better option, though they may get crowded too. Trash is a noticeable issue in Taganga, Santa Marta, and the surrounding areas, which could use more attention. Still, it’s worth a visit if you’re in the area and manage your expectations.

It's just a small collection of buildings along a highway...
It's just a small collection of buildings along a highway with major transport vehicles, and all restaurants are open air along the highway. Rather depressing, and not a good spot to get food/snacks for backpacking into the park. Though we were able to get cash from one of the stores, they charged us an 11% fee.
As an adventurous person who likes to avoid crowds in national parks, I thought the Calabazo entrance would've been a great way to see the park & wildlife, but it wasn't really worth it. We exited through the Zaino entrance & preferred the accommodations & hiking paths found there. In low season (Nov 27 & 28th) there weren't all that many people anyway.

Cianaga seems to have a beautiful location near the beach and with views of the mountains. We went to a great restaurant called El Turisto Sadly, The city is very, very dirty with trash everywhere. The motorbikes and cats and dogs running freely also make the city less attractive. It has great potential!

Lovely historic center with great street food. Great for sunsets at the beach(es) and wandering through the old town. Absolutely fantastic musem in the heart of the old city and the night life around the Plaza is fun and great for people watching.

We enjoyed our stay at the hotel, pool was very nice with the sierra on the back. room was clean and spacious. Sound of the river was very relaxing. Food is very good and tasty, patacones were our favorites. Service just needs to be from good to great to make this the perfect hotel.

Not really what I have been told.
Not really what I have been told. I was expecting an “hippie vibe place” but more than hippie it is a bit unkept.
Try to spend time in nature but avoid the waterfall everyone one goes to. It loses all the magic and silence of the place.
