The location was good too, with an ATM, shops, and restaurants close by, and the bus terminal just a short taxi ride away.
Our room was quiet (on a higher floor), clean and huge, even had a jacuzzi.
The lady at reception was sometimes very friendly, nice, and helpful, and at other times more reserved and practical, but always helpful when needed.

A good location - close everything and staff that were incredibly friendly, helpful and professional. There are any a restaurant onsite but they serve a good breakfast and you can order in from an extensive menu on Sundays when most of the restaurants are closed

People are NOT FRIENDLY, bad acctitud. If you go to a restaurant even great ones you PAY FIRST and them you get your meal served. Ipiales is about 20 mins driving from Las Lajas which was named as the most beautiful church in South America. After I wend there, I agreed that it is very beautiful and the design is unique. Ipiales is also 10 mins driving from the border to Ecuador. I had no issue to cross the land border in 15 mins.Guest review byWingUnited States - 6.0

Traffic in the city is very heavy, bordering on chaotic. Taxis are recommended by this traveller. I would never try to drive there. You must know Spanish, or you will be lost. A good translator app is helpful. A very nice restaurant is the Catedral Cafe, near the beautiful San Juan de Pasto Cathedral. We also enjoyed the Casona Taminango historical museum and day trips to the amazing Sanctuary of Las Lajas and the Laguna de la Cocha, where we took a boat excursion to the Isla La Corota and had the best trout ever at the Rancho Grande Restaurant.Guest review byMargretoraUnited States - 2.0
There is nothing in Ipiales.
There is nothing in Ipiales. It's a dirty place, with shady characters that you wouldnt miss much by skipping this place completely. However, it's THE border town so you have to go here. While you're here make the best of it! Definitely go to Las Lajas Sanctuary during your stay. If Ipiales is a 0, Las Lajas Sanctuary is a 10!Guest review byAnonymousDominican Republic - 10.0
It is a lovely city to connect with nature.
It is a lovely city to connect with nature. Very clean has great public transportation. Best part is the people! They are friendly and helpful. There are lots of places to visit! Laguna de la Cocha, La cascada y Basílica de Sandoval, the Waterfalls hot springs! However Maragato Fall has no access!
