This was an exceptional hotel with a great location and view of Chiemsee. It was ideal for hikers and bikers who wanted to explore the foothills of the Alps and the lake below. The restaurant was open all day, which was very convenient for those who could not make it to the traditional cutoff time of two in the afternoon and then having to wait until five in the evening to eat a decent meal. The staff was friendly and helpful. Parking was easy and convenient.

very cozy, simple accommodations. my host was kind and understanding of my later than anticipated arrival. He showed me the cabin, restroom/ shower facilities and sold me a much needed beer within 10 minutes of my arrival. A towel was provided for a few euros and breakfast was 10 euros. there was a campfire outside and I visited with a few of the other campers before bed. The accommodation is very simple but felt it was a good value.

Very nice personal. Very comfortable and very stylish hotel. We loved to swim in the lake and spa area is very clean and beautiful. Outside whirlpool is very pleasant. They have excellent breakfast. We loved the view from our room.

Nice place to unwind, must not skip the Herreninsel and Fraueninsel! Make sure you have a day to spend to visit Schloss Herrenchiemsee!!! Eat lunch at Klosterwirt or zur Linde in Fraueninsel and bring enough cash to buy some souvenirs at the Klosterladen. Ps: wait until sunset by the beach and wake up early to smell the fresh breeze near the lake.

I went for three days but at the end I stayed only two. The rooms do not have AC unit and temp inside was about 26°C (79°F). The rooms are old and outdated, smelly and dusty. I had to leave after the second day and they still charged me with the third day.
Bad hotel... Bad hotel. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL

Excellent location for us as we took our bikes with us so it was an easy cycle down to Prien and also the surrounding area. Seebruck is an interesting place due to it being an old Roman settlement and there's lots of info boards around the place.

If you stay in Gstadt, you have easy access to kayaks, stand-up paddle boards, pedal boats, electric boats, and a nice swimming dock. There's a ferry terminal right there with frequent departures to the islands. It's also right on the round-the-lake trail for cyclists, e-cyclists, and walkers. 56 km or 35 mi, but with an e-bike from the rental shop in town, you can do it in half a day! Also an ATM at the visitor center. Great for kids, solo travelers, couples, retirees, everyone.

A must-visit place, recommended for all seasons as each carry a different beauty and personality of Chiemsee and its surrounding locations. Take the boat and enjoy the ride to each Island. Walk around Fraueninsel, have a meal at Herreninsel after visiting the Castle. Walk to the water in the summer. It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been to! Enjoy the beauty of Bavaria!

I think you can tell that Traunreut did not exist before the war. There seems to be important industry but few people on the streets. Somehow older places often seem to have more soul to them. I went there for a quiet time (meditation) for which it was fine.

The historic steam tram ride to the Port was fun . Tickets for train snd ferry services at the station - near the main train station. We only had 2 day do visited just 2 islands but I think an entire day hopping on and off at each town would be wonderful. Be aware that bus/train/ operations seem to stop about 7 and taxis were not answering ( though it was a big football night) We had a long but very pleasant walk back home. The palace & gardens ? Stunning!

Seebruck village is lovely and quiet and great for cycling and walking. Lots of little cafes and super lake side areas to relax in. Good weather is a necessity as hotels do not have much else to do. I was fortunate to have stayed in two different hotels. The first for 3 nights was excellent and the one I am giving feed back on, sadly I had a very bad experience.

Cute corner of lake Chiemsee. Ferry terminal to various points/islands. Choose your gasthaus or hotel carefully as some have their own lakeshore grassy areas/deckchairs cornered off & ‘privat’. 2/3 restaurants within walking distance along with 2/3 cafes. Quiet area - everyone in bed and up early. Easy to hire bikes & all types of boats (SUP, peddle, electric etc;) An hour distance from Munich and Salzburg. Mainly German tourists though most locals have smattering of English.

A really nice resort town. The boat trip to Herrenchiemsee is a must along with a tour of the palace. If you have the right weather be sure to swim in the lake - wonderful and refreshing. There is a good selection of restaurants. A beautiful location to visit.
