Our room over looked a small fairly quiet square. Saturday there was a very large market that is a must see.
It appeared to be a recently renovated building.
There is a bar run by the hotel with inside seats and outside seats on the square.

Remembering the Past, Relishing the Present
Bordered by the English Channel, Normandy is a sleepy French region that sees many visitors arrive via its major seaports – Cherbourg, Dieppe, Le Havre and Ouistreham.
Between these last 2 is Deauville, home to some of the most exclusive Normandy hotels by the beach. Its pristine sands and international film festival have secured its prestige for the glitterati. The surrounding region of Calvados is famous for its cider and brandy, and Normandy also home to camembert cheese.
Calvados was also the site of the Allied landings and Booking.com has a great range of B&Bs and hotels near D-Day beaches. Caen, the Normandy capital, is a lovely city that houses the Memorial for Peace, a museum detailing the effects of conflict, and World War II in particular. North of here in Bénouville is Pegasus Bridge, while the D-Day beaches span from Ouistreham to Arromanches, home to another of Normandy’s WWII museums.
Inland is the Bayeux tapestry, a huge, hand-stitched depiction of the Norman conquest of England. Off the region’s western shores are the Channel Islands, while at its south-west corner are Avranches and nearby Mont Saint-Michel, accessed via a causeway.
Other Normandy attractions include Rouen, a historic city with colourful, half-timbered houses and an archaeology museum housing finds from the Roman amphitheatre down the Seine River in Lillebonne.

We loved our ocean facing room. Our second room was okay but across the building and down the hall. I was hoping to be closer to our second room (our kids are 8 and 13). We had to get 2 rooms because they didn’t have quads available.
For Europe, the rooms were a good size. We were on the 6th floor and had a balcony off each room (please note they are lovely, but you can’t fit a chair on them like many balconies in Europe). We stayed here for 5 days four nights. It was a great location. We could walk for ice cream or dinner everyday and every night. I went to the beach often and found seaglass and really pretty stones. We had a couple massages that were great. We enjoyed the upstairs patio where we could lay out and read our books.
The bartenders are very friendly and enjoyed having a drink every night.

This is a jewel that we were so lucky to find. We had the top floor suite which was lovely. The dinner in the downstairs restaurant was a highlight of our trip and the breakfast (brought to our suite in the most adorable picnic basket ) was wonderful! In a very busy, tourist packed village, this was a much needed breath of fresh air.

Absolutely stunning place, I mean tonw itself. I had a nice room with Falaises d'Etretat view and a small balcony. i was happy to spent 2 nights over there. There were a heating system, all facilities and room was really clean.

Rouen is a very interesting city to visit.
Rouen is a very interesting city to visit. Excellent and varied dining options. A good running path along the river. An impressive Musée des Beaux Artes. An abundance of historical sites and amazing architecture.
There is a quirky grittyness to the town. It's a very artsy river port city and for American travelers, I would say that the vibe was a bit like Portland, Oregon.
What was most surprising, and what I was not prepared for, were the extensive and convenient shopping opportunities. Instead of taking the RER from my place to Paris, it would be worthwile to go back to Rouen for holiday shopping as it is much more laid back and less crowded. Next time I will bring an extra suitcase and plan ahead !

a central point if you are visiting the various museums and memorials in Normandy. we stayed for three nights and enjoyed strolling through the city in the evening and dining at several restaurants in the city.

We visited the city because of it's UNESCO World Heritage Site status. We were very diappointed. The structures were not aesthetically attractive.

I was in Deauville for the Bridge Festival, so chose the location for that reason. However, I would say that some of the restaurants in Deauville are not great value or quality and prefer to eat in Trouville where there is better choice and value in my opinion. It is all down to personal taste, obviously many wealthy Parisians and foreign visitors like to be in Deauville, for the beach and top hotels. Relative to Trouville it is quite smart, but Trouville is more lively and overall more interesting. Next time, I will stay in Trouville although it is more of a walk to the casino.

It's beautiful.
It's beautiful. So many interesting buildings, pretty harbour full of real yachts and cruisers, fishing boats, sail craft, instead of the billionaire barges you see in the Med!
Excellent eating, good shopping, plenty of art.
Recommend Les Demoiselles as a nice little bistro, good food, service, ambience.

Cherbourg is dominated by a huge harbour where your ferry comes in. The town itself is long from east to west, spreading out from the harbour. From north to south it is much smaller. The harbour area and the promenades are worth walking around and the central area at the Place Charles de Gaulle is the best area to relax in. It's also the ideal town from which to see other nearby attractions, such as a D-Day beach, the Bayeux Tapestry and Mont-St-Michel, all of which I visited. One word of warning - the French railway service isn't the best. The trains are subjected to many cancellations and delays and the ticket machines in the stations frequently refuse to give you a ticket! Railway problems aside, the town of Cherbourg and other parts of Normandy are worth a holiday and I'm so glad I went.

Dieppe is a pleasant port town & we found the locals very friendly. It's good to see working fishing boats & fishermen selling their catch on the Quay daily.
December is not the best time to visit, but most of the restaurants were still open & there's a good variety.
For a 3 course lunch, without drinks, you can pay anything from 19euros per person to 60+.
We ate at a e27 restaurant & a e19 tabac/bar/resto & both were excellent value.
The beach is long & sandy.
There are plenty of independent shops & smaller supermarkets in the centre & most of the major ones within a few minutes drive.

No outside sitting, window in room wouldn't shut, toilet seat not very secure, ensuite door catch broken. it was uncared for, lots of men coming in and out during breakfast, going behind serving area helping themselves and disappearing I didn't feel comfortable

Wonderful large beach with lots of amenities. Great choice of restaurants to suit all tastes and all budgets. Easy to walk around. Would recommend Hotel Le Flaubert, restaurant Les Etiquettes and Noirot.
