We hired a car at the airport and we travelled along all of the coast road around the island over the three days we were there. There are many nice areas to visit and we particularly enjoyed our trip to the sound at Cregneash which had a very nice cafe and where we were able to view a number seals resting on the rocks between the sound and the Calf of Man. Port Erin has a lovely beach and cafe and where we were also able to use one of the sauna cabins that are situated on the beach. Peel and Bride are also well worth a visit if your time allows.Guest review byLawrenceUnited Kingdom - 8.0

There isn't much to do in Ramsey in winter apart from a good choice of pubs but plenty of nice walks. Bus service to anywhere on the island is great we did a circular trip on three buses which took up most of one day stopping off in Peel and Douglas for a while.Guest review byWilkinsonUnited Kingdom - 8.0

A good place to explore other areas, public transport is good and allowed us to get about to visit Douglas etc. Port Erin has some lovely community activities going on such as a live band on the beach and young musicians. Port Erin is clean and has a nice chilled vibe.Guest review byLisaUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Castletown had lots of back alleys, viewpoints and museums...
Castletown had lots of back alleys, viewpoints and museums plus the local bus service stopped in the town square. There was quite a bit to watch with several motorbikes setting off and a pipe band there today. Castle Rushen dominates with a very pretty little harbour and several museums as well as the steam train leaving quite close by. It was very pretty and much more interesting than Douglas. We arrived by ferry and the bus journey was lovely from Douglas to Castletown. We flew out from Ronaldsway airport which was walking distance and has the best small military museums that I have ever been to. Can't rate the town highly enough.Guest review byRichard HampsonUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Everything you need.
Everything you need. Supermarket, a couple of pubs, a few local shops, lovely steam railway line and station that you can get all the way to Douglas. Also a fantastic sandy beach, ideal for swimming in the summer or winter walks.Guest review byJohnUnited Kingdom - 10.0
Great location with easy links to explore the whole island...
Great location with easy links to explore the whole island from a quiet base. Loads of walking trails and history on your doorstep. Easy bus and MER links. About 4 miles from Snaefell. Friendly and helpful locals willing to help if they can. Must see the Great Laxey Wheel. We thought it was fantastic. Stayed on the IOM for 4 days and used the clean, frequent and punctual buses to get around.Guest review byIanUnited Kingdom - 8.0
The IOM in general is a great destination.
The IOM in general is a great destination. Maughold is a quiet rural location so your local amenities are a drive or bus ride away. Enough pubs and restaurants in general, and lots of cafes, but transport is a must, be it private or public. There are many walking routes and trails on the island, and plenty of attractions for all. These could prove quite expensive so a search for family discount or multi-visit discounts would be beneficial. There are enough decent beaches to keep a family with kids happy, but don't expect theme park style fairground rides. Things are a little more low-key and tasteful. The IOM is a very picturesque island and well worth a visit.Guest review byacer1United Kingdom - 10.0
Travelled by myself to Douglas, felt really safe.
Travelled by myself to Douglas, felt really safe. Used it as a base and travelled on the bus to Peel, which is an amazing place, visit the castle and the viking centre. Went on the electric train to Ramsey, the scenery was amazing. Felt disappointed with Ramsey as it was a bit industrial, but still good to see. Would defo recommend a holiday here.Guest review byAnonymous
