Shanklin is a beautiful coastal town, with many interesting places to visit, apart for its great beach and seafront attractions and pubs, the Old Village with their pretty thatched cottages, Pencil Cottage, Pink Cottage with its lovely Fairy Garden, Shanklin Chine and its hotel were Victorian couples used to spend their honeymoon, Fisherman Cottage , Rylstone Gardens, Big Mead pond , nice walk to Bonchurch, Devil Chimney, Wishing Seat and the waterfall on the beach on the way to Luccombe just to mention some.Guest review bySeamarUnited Kingdom - 6.0

Sandown has a feel of being neglected a bit over the last few years. It still has some good facilities but overall the town looks a bit "past it". A bit of investment is perhaps needed (and pot-holed in the side roads need attentionGuest review byAnonymous - 10.0
Ryde is a great place to visit.
Ryde is a great place to visit. The beach is particularly beautiful and has very pleasant walks along its length with lots of places to visit. There are also plenty of buses so if like me you don’t drive or as an alternative to driving, you can get to practically anywhere on the Island. There are also some good places to eat in and around the streets of Ryde.Guest review byjanetteUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Cowes is quite busy and noisy, but we expected that.
Cowes is quite busy and noisy, but we expected that. If you want a quiet IOW break, choose one of the resorts on the other side of the island, but for the buzz of the world's yachting capital stick to Cowes. Bus services to all parts of the island are frequent and plentiful.Guest review byAnonymous - 10.0
Quiet and scenic bay.
Quiet and scenic bay. Excellent fish and chips at Golden Sands. The Spyglass pub looks over the bay and does lovely food. Toni's does great toasties and boozey hot chocolates. Really lovely vibe and lovely to see so many dog walkers. Ventnor Boat Charters do a good boat trip along the bay and they're really friendly. It has real charm and a good place to stroll along and forget your worries.Guest review byBenUnited Kingdom - 8.0
Ideal location for exploring the Island.
Ideal location for exploring the Island. The variety of good real ale pubs and eating places were a lot less than when I was first in Newport around 15 or so years ago. We tried several pubs, and a tea room/bakery, but on balance the best were not in Newport. The best for drinks - beer at least and wine - was the Newport Ale House; and for food and drink, the Union Inn Cowes, the Red Lion Freshwater, the Bargeman's Rest Newport, the Castle Inn Newport, and top of the list the Highdown Inn Totland Bay ... but there are more to try when we next go for a week of exploration and hiking!Guest review byDominicUnited Kingdom - 8.0

Freshwater was ok but the beach was not dog friendly so we went to Compton beach a few times, the dog loved it. The Red lion pub served lovely food but you have to book, it gets a bit busy, but the Vine pub serves proper pub grub and their homemade pies were delicious , booking is also recommended but not vital.Guest review byWilliamUnited Kingdom - 10.0

I found Bembridge full of surprises , I came across the last windmill on the island, the beach is so nice , the people are so friendly and very helpful, I felt welcome and safe. There was a book on Bembridge in the flat I rented and it was so interesting that I have ordered a copy for myself.Guest review byjackieUnited Kingdom - 10.0

Very pretty town with everything within easy access on foot.Peaceful and tranquil despite many visitors. Helpful and pleasant staff in shops and restaurants. An especial thank you to Ivory Unisex hairdressers and manicurist for fitting me in at short notice and doing a really good job as well. We particularly liked the Gossip Cafe which provided excellent food and efficient service. The antiques centre is worth a visit and Scoop ice cream is to be recommended.Guest review byGillianUnited Kingdom - 8.0
The worst part was the central facilities. the Restuarant...
The worst part was the central facilities. the Restuarant and the bar area. We booked a table for the 10 of us. based on the menu online. On arrival we were informed that it was a limited menu. (very limited) the staff behind the bar, 5 at one point where available when no one was there but when anyone wanted serving disappeared. Some were more interested in their mobiles. when the food came out, we only had 8 meals and error (what I still don't understand is they used an EPOS system, but the orders were handwritten). Behind us was a table of six they only got three meals. another table also complained. We had asked for confirmation on ordering of 10 meals. when the meals came out in dribs and drabs no one asked if “everything was ok”. basic management was not evident. Although the food was ok. Generally, we found many minor issues with maintenance in the three chalets we booked clearly no maintenance checks. even found someone's underpants in one of the washers. the images of the chalets show big clocks only one had hands on them the other didn't work. one chalet had Wi-Fi although not advertised. in the amusement arcade many of the machines where broken but wouldn't take much fixing. Their seemed to be a major push on selling holiday homes. which looked good and reasonably priced. but the general attitude of the staff and poor use of the facilities will put many off. It’s a real shame that the staff and management are not driving excellence. Our frustrations are from a position that with a little more care this would be an excellent holiday location I would add that we still had a great holiday. Although the chalets where well equipped with a large fridge freezer there is nowhere to store non chilled food! P.S don’t advertise a facility if you cannot deliver.Guest review byneilUnited Kingdom
