The Peaceful Garden of England
The so-called Garden of England, Kent is known for its lush greenery. Although within easy reach of London, it’s a world away from the hustle and bustle. So much so, that at many Kent hotels, spa facilities come as standard. One is, unsurprisingly, in the sophisticated spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells.
Nearby in Lamberhurst is medieval Scotney Castle, surrounded by a moat. Also moat-bound and with Kent accommodation available on Booking.com are Hever Castle and Leeds Castle (the latter in a village not to be confused with the city of Leeds).
The county town is Maidstone, but its most famous city is Canterbury, whose magnificent cathedral is the seat of the Church of England’s highest post. Rochester also has an impressive cathedral.
To the west is Margate, one of the top Kent seaside towns. Other resorts with long beaches are Broadstairs, Ramsgate and Deal. Around the coastline, Dover is known for its white cliffs, castle and the ferries crossing the English Channel to France. To the west is the Channel Tunnel by Folkestone, and Eurostar trains from St Pancras also stop at Ashford inland.
Other popular Kent attractions are the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch railway, Brands Hatch motor racing circuit, and the conical oast houses so typical of this part of England.

Hi hem anat concretament per veure la Catedral, i realment...
Hi hem anat concretament per veure la Catedral, i realment paga la pena fer el viatge per veure-la bé, entrar-hi i passejar per la nau, les dependències, el claustre, els jardins... una meravella.
La resta de la ciutat també està força bé. Molt agradable la zona cèntrica i peatonal. Cap al vespre: personal sospitós que et fa sentir una mica intranquil, com a tants llocs.

L’àrea d’Ashford ((Kent) és una regió excepcional per la seva bellesa. Canterbury visita obligada per la seva catedral, les seus carrers medievals i els seus jardins de la West Gate. També hi ha canals que es poden recórrer en petites barques turístiques. A la mateixa regió es pot visitar el castell de Leeds. Recomano llogar habitacions d’establiments petits tipus pub, millor que els hotels. Canterbury és una ciutat on es pot fer shopping. Tot plegat fa d’aquesta regió anglesa una destinació ideal per un agradable cap de setmana en parella o amb amics.
