Homer’s "beautiful and rich land
The 2nd largest Greek island, Corfu is a fantastic beach holiday destination whose diversity caters to all tastes, from great nightlife in party capital Kavos to the quiet, family-orientated beach of Arillas.
The capital Corfu Town (or Kerkyra) has interesting streets and a citadel to explore. Booking.com offers several Corfu hotels near the airport both here and in neighbouring Perama, which overlooks the wonderful isle of Pontikonissi. Gouvia to the north offers fabulous views across the Ionian Sea to mainland Greece. The calm waters at Dassia lap the shingle beach, while livelier Kassiopi has a cute harbour.
Acharavi on the north coast is also good for nightlife, while next door Roda is more relaxed and has a lovely, sandy beach. Aghios Ioannis to the west is home to Aqualand waterpark, and just along the coast is Sidari whose Canal d’Amour beach is spectacularly sheltered by rocky headland. Also beautiful is the curved bay lined with rugged cliffs at Paleokastritsa.
In the south, Messonghi’s shallow waters full of little fish are good for children, and next door Moraitika has a long beach and better nightlife. North, the fishing village Benitses has a good selection of Corfu hotels on the beach, and its peaceful harbour is still the place to see the daily catch being brought to land.

Just returned from 1 week at this slice of paradise with our two girls (11 and 3 years old). Where to begin! The facility is newly built and beautiful, right on a beach with the most beautiful sunset. The resort is the perfect size, not too many people like in some previous places we have been to. We never had issues getting beds at the pool even when we arrived past 10 AM. Slides are great fun, the kids loved them (me too!) The food is excellent, the choice phenomenal. The shop onsite had everything you could possibly want, and was the best value onsite shop I have found in any resort. However where this hotel really excels is the wonderful team working there. The team at this hotel are absolutely fantastic. Everybody from the pool bar, chefs, waiting staff (Maria, Alexandro), cleaning staff, front desk, golf buggy drivers (JIMMY is the best!), towel stand (Krasi), Manager (Dimitris) were so friendly and helpful. Nothing was too much to ask and the attention to detail is something to behold. And last, and most importantly, the spectacular ANIMATION TEAM. This team really made our holidays. The multi-talented CLARA, MUKI, SIMONA, DIYANKA, LARA, ERAY, HATTI and ALEX take a bow. They worked tirelessly all day and night to ensure our happiness. Among the many fun daily activities we participated in were; Archery, Boccia, Aqua Zumba and Aqua Gym (several times). As well as these, the evening entertainment programme was top notch. We really enjoyed the mini disco and the show afterwards and attended every evening. The team were always funny and engaging and it was a pleasure chatting to Clara, Simona, Diyanka and Alex around the pool every day. We have definitely made some great friends and we hope to see them again. My older daughter was crying leaving as she loved this team and their kindness and warmth so much. My youngest daughter loved the kids club and Lara and Diyanka were so kind and attentive to her. THANK YOU!

We had an unforgettable stay at MarBella Corfu! From the moment we arrived, the warm hospitality and stunning views left us in awe. A very special thanks to Marina, who went above and beyond to make our experience extraordinary. Not only was she incredibly welcoming and attentive, but she also surprised us with an upgrade to a beautiful suite with a private pool. This generous gesture truly made our stay exceptional.
The food was fantastic, with a wide variety of delicious options each day. We were consistently impressed by the friendly staff, who made us feel at home throughout our stay. If we return to Corfu, it will undoubtedly be thanks to Marina and the wonderful team at MarBella Corfu. Highly recommended!

A beautiful, charming little town, small enough to walk from...
A beautiful, charming little town, small enough to walk from one side to the other in minutes but we spent hours walking around the old town and exploring all the little back streets, shops and the astonishing number of cafes and restaurants. I have a minor mobility issue and used a walking frame with robust wheels - that was problematic in only a handful of areas with steps but even those I managed to negotiate up and down with help from my companion. It could be more difficult and a bumpy ride for anyone in a wheelchair as some streets are cobbled. People were friendly and helpful. The only down side was the mosquitoes, which we now know are a problem at the time of year we went - October. We highly recommend the town as a place to visit for a couple days.

We were only there as it was convenient for the airport. Otherwise I would not recommend it - however there is a big branch of Lidl nearby for buying food to cook in the apartment. We did not find any tavernas.

I think that the Northwest coast around Paleokastritsa is the nicest area, We stayed, unfortunately, in Sidari in the North. Very British, some Russian and Hungarian, not so modern, it felt like a resort built in the 60-ies. No old beautiful buildings, just hotels, bars and restaurants frequented by old British people. (In September). Small Island, enough to rent a car for 1-2 days. Korfu city is crowded with tourists, restaurants and shops.

Dassia is a great location to spend time in Corfu. It is close to the main attractions of the island. One downside are the beaches that are just with pebbles and have very thin shore. I would not recommend this location if you want to stay here just for the beach, but if you have a car and you can go to other beaches then it's a great location.

Arriving by ferry this house was ideal as it was close to the port so no worries about luggage etc.walking into Corfu town is possible though after leaving the street the house is on there is an uphill road which may be a challenge to some. Quiet neighborhood although planes can be heard (Corfu airport busy in the summer) but gone within seconds and no more noticeable than a motorbike passing the house. Supermarket nearby and fresh fruit and veg shop so if you’re staying a few days self catering is no problem. We only stayed one night so didn’t try the bar next door (Epic Bar) but there were guests there when we went to bed but they were respectfully quiet, no loud music or anything .

Kavos is usually packed with younger tourists who prefer the busy street and bars and Disco and very vibrant night life - all are in the main street in Kavos. The Kristiana hotel is just 100m away from the busy main street, yet you feel as if you are in a private resort with lovely people and very well maintained hotel rooms

Very central to visit Corfu town by bus €1.60 e.w. for a day trip, gouvia is lovely, gr8 restaurants, fresh food & the beach was lovely, every restaurant we ate in was delish, especially the chinese restaurant, ooh and the bar with the Elvis tribute was brilliant and reasonably priced for drinks too. And I even got a great haircut at the local hair dressers, they were so friendly, we had a great relaxing holiday in Gouvia.

The northern end of the bay is wonderfully quiet. The beach is largely sand and a joy to swim in. You can hire a canoe, paddle board or boat from Dimitri and Babis on the beach or take a 5 minute trip to Porto Timon for the day. There is one shop and three restaurants - all of which are lovely. The staff recognised me again this visit! A walk towards the other end brings a few more shops and restaurants, though we were happy to stay at our end. Lunch at home, dinner out in the evening. Wine is good and cheap in the shop - better than going to Lidl, though we picked up basics there when we collected the car in Corfu town.
It's useful to have a car - on the last couple of visits we've had overcast or rainy days and it's good to explore the area.

Kommeno is well placed for sightseeing around the island but...
Kommeno is well placed for sightseeing around the island but you need a car to make the most of it. It is not so good for easy access to a beach which would have been nice as it was about 40 degrees C every day of our stay! We liked the Hyalus cafe for breakfast and had a delicious meal in Avalle restaurant.
