GreeceThis was the best stay I have ever had in Irakleio. From the moment we entered, we were warmly greeted by a charming gentleman, informing us on all the details. When we got into our room, I was amazed that we had paid so little for so much. Beautifully decorated, clean, perfect matress and pillows. Our friends had a room next to us, which was different, and equally beautiful. In the evening we walked to the centre which was so close. The breakfast was superb! Highly recommended. On the 5th floor there is also a roof garden, also well designed where I could enjoy my cigarette, with a fabulous view. I wish I could have stayed and slept there for much much longer! I rested well in the large comfortable bed. Well done to Kastro. You are brilliant!!!!! Thank you!!!!

United KingdomWe had to find a quick solution due to cancelled flight at short notice-close to the airport. This apartment was 15mins journey and we found a spotlessly clean modern room waiting for us within the hour. The owner arrived to ensure everything was in order and explained how the air con, entry system and tv worked etc. He was so helpful and welcoming . it was very well equipped with coffee machine and fridge where water and soft drinks were proved. The linens and towels were great quality and the beds comfy and large. It was located on the coast road with the sea metres from the door and a Sandy beach a 5 min walk away. The area was fairly low key but several tavernas and cafe bars were nearby as well as a convenience groceries store. It was a bonus to find this great place after a disappointing airline experience

Everything was perfect, what can we say! The staff was always so friendly and helpful, whether it was the cleaning staff, serving staff, check-in desk, etc. We enjoyed the food - there were so many options so that everyone found something they like. The Asian restaurant that can be booked ahead of time with a reservation was delicious too. The main buffet can get a little busy during peak times, but there were other options as well that felt a little calmer. The main pool bar was great - the bartenders there were super friendly.
The layout of the hotel is superb - although it's big and there are a lot of people staying there, there are many different pools to choose from, as well as the beach area. The hotel has a grocery store on site, a games room, a store with general beach-vacation items which came in handy when our daughter refused to wear her sandals and we needed a new pair on the first day.
The beach was amazing. Enough chairs and umbrellas for everyone. The waves did get high when it was windier, it was very entertaining to watch (and to listen to!).
The shows that were put on during the evening were a lot of fun for everyone.
We had the best vacation ever and are so happy we found this place!

We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Paralos Lifestyle Beach.
Staff and Service: The staff were really friendly and always ready to help, making us feel very welcome.
Ambiance: The hotel was quiet and peaceful, even though it was fully booked during our stay. This was thanks to its smart design and the private pool that gave us our own space to relax.
Location: Being right next to the beach was fantastic. The area around the hotel isn't very pretty, so we suggest renting a car to visit more beautiful parts of the island.
Food: The food at the hotel was very good, with a great variety of choices. We appreciated the fresh options for both breakfast and dinner. It was nice having a breakfast room dedicated to healthy choices. Also, getting one free à la carte dinner during our stay was a fantastic bonus.
Activities: It was great having sports classes like yoga and pilates available. There is an outdoor gym area as well as a small indoor gym equipped with three cardio machines.
Overall, our time at Paralos Lifestyle Beach was excellent. We felt well taken care of and really enjoyed everything the hotel had to offer. We'd be happy to come back!

We had a wonderful stay at the Astoria Capsis Hotel in Heraklion. From the moment we arrived, the staff made us feel incredibly welcome. They even surprised us with a complimentary upgrade to a suite, which had just been newly renovated—an unexpected touch that made our stay even more memorable.
The hotel’s location is perfect—right in the city centre—making it easy to explore Heraklion on foot and access everything we needed during our trip.
One of the highlights for us was how pet-friendly the hotel is. Our furry family member was not only welcomed but even received special amenities from the staff, which we really appreciated.
The overall warmth and hospitality of the team left a lasting impression on us. If there’s one area for improvement, it would be the breakfast selection. It would be lovely to see more traditional Cretan options included.
Overall, our experience was truly enjoyable, and we’d definitely recommend the hotel—especially for anyone traveling with pets or looking for a warm, personalized stay in the heart of Heraklion.

We loved every minute of our stay. From the minute we walked in, we loved it. I believe it is the most beautiful reception I have ever seen - the ocean as a backdrop is just picture perfect. The lobby smelled amazing and we were welcomed in the most hospitable manner. The service was outstanding - it was more than the usual friendly and polite service, everyone made us feel welcome and well taken care of. They service we experienced was true hospitality with heart.
The breakfast had the most amazing selection. The views all around the resort are incredible - starting from the lobby, to the room, to the pool, we loved that you could see the ocean from almost every angle.
Pictures do not do the resort justice - it is so much more stunning in reality.

Extremely well located hotel with a rooftop restaurant offering a varied menu, a magnificent view of the old port and succulent dishes. Rooms with a sea view actually have a view so beautiful that photos can't do it justice.
Staff very welcoming, attentive, nice and responsive at all times.
Highly recommendable, the hotel is well equipped and lacks nothing, and the staff are just like all the Cretans we met: as friendly as possible.

The location was amazing, right next to the beach. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There was a flight stike and our flights got cancelled. We had to change dates around with our holiday which was stressful but the hotel was extremely helpful.

Abundant food, clean rooms, daily cleaning are typical. You have to cross a little traffic road to get to the beach. The beach is well equipped, and if you are on an all-inclusive plan, you can also eat on the beach. Sunbeds are free for hotel guests.

Difficult to judge because we came early in the season when...
Difficult to judge because we came early in the season when there was a cold wind blowing and not all the places were open. However, there didn't seem to be many places to eat [not a problem for us as there was one excellent place, though would be a problem peak season] . There were a number of apparently abandoned and ill-maintained buildings, which made the place appear less attractive.

It was about a ten minutes walk uphill part way to Koutouloufari, loads of restaurants and bars, a fabulous experience. Walk a little further and you come to Piscopiano, also excellent. Walk down the hill and you come to restaurants with Greek dancing and plate smashing, also excellent.

The people are very friendly and most speak or can communicate in several European languages.
The city is clean (no litter !!) and the food a and drink is excellent
Culturally - this is superb - if ancient history and tall tales of greek mythology are of interest - the museums are well laid out and tourist groups "directed"
One significant and pleasant item is that if you are an EU resident and 65 plus you get reduced entry fees into the national museums and attractions ( ID needed)

Stalis is perfect for all ages and families.
Stalis is perfect for all ages and families. If you want partying then Malia is far enough down the road to go to and it doesn't overspill to Stalis.
We ate in a different restaurant each night of our 7 night stay. It has something for everyone and great choices of food.
We will return next year for sure.
It has everything :)

Matala is a colorful, beautiful, and lively little town with a great atmosphere. It is perfect for beach days and a good starting point for day trips to nearby museums and archaeological sites.
There is a huge selection of good restaurants.
It is a good idea to arrive by car if you want to go on lots of trips and be independent. However, there are also bus connections, e.g. to Heraklion.

I came here for special purpose, to watch basketball U20...
I came here for special purpose, to watch basketball U20 European Championship. For that reason i was traveling by bus to Duo Aorakia and University Sports Center. Don't have so much time to explore the city. When free, enjoy Amoudara beach.

Malia is a great place for food, beaches and a good location...
Malia is a great place for food, beaches and a good location to explore some of the surrounding areas.
The old town provides amazing Cretan restaurants, pretty much all good, and some, like the Avli, Getonia, Sokaki, and Brassierie are excellent. Book a table if there in the busy season.
There are local palace ruins which are well worth a visit and easy to get to on the happy train, which is also an experience on its own and does various trips up to the hills as well around town and locally.
If there for while definitely book some trips out on a boat, as the sea is just deliciously clean and refreshing, and if feeling adventurous take a boat to Spinalonga and have a wander among the old leper colony.
If you can get up in the hills, a visit to Lasithi Plato and make sure you stop off at the restaurant Taksiarhos - where all the food is home made by Joanna, the wife of Taksiarhos who owns this place - it is a complete treat to meet both of them as have a truly authentic Cretan meal and experience. And once the cave is back open (hopefully in 2026) visit Zeus' birth place just a little further up the hill.
But of course, the weather is just fab here so do enjoy the sun be it on a beach or by a pool!

Very central location with easy access to the center of...
Very central location with easy access to the center of Heraklion (approx. 5-10 min walk). Very accessible also to the free municipal parking (10 minutes). In addition, be careful of parking right near the stay, there is no parking allowed, so there is a risk of a ticket. You also have a bus station 1 min walk from the entrance door.
The neighborhood is very safe at night, no problems whatsoever.
