FAQs about hotels on Santorini
A Greek Island Dream
Imagine a typical Greek island with whitewashed houses, blue-domed churches and sloping cliffs, and the chances are that you’re thinking of Santorini. Protectively curving around 4 other islands in its archipelago, this volcanic island has fertile ground bringing forth lovely rosé wine and some of the sweetest cherry tomatoes you’ll ever taste.
High on a caldera shelving into the sea, the capital Fira overlooks the cruise liners plying the turquoise Aegean waters below. North is Imerovigli, home to several 5-star Santorini hotels with fantastic views.
Also providing amazing views is the accommodation in Oia across the bay. Cascading down the slopes, the sea of white here is only dispersed by vibrant pink flowers, blue domes and the brown of ancient windmills, all becoming black silhouettes as the sun sets.
Santorini Airport is on the other side of the island and 2 resorts south of it – Kamari and Perissa – have the best, black sand beaches. However, the most visually impressive is Red Beach at Akrotiri where the stunning red colour of the caldera and sand makes the trek down the rockface well worth it. Just time it right to avoid high tide! Also near Akrotiri are excavations of a Minoan era settlement.

- From US$1,490.54 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.7Exceptional - What previous guests thought, 102 reviewsThe hotel is positioned in one of the best location points of Oia. It has an amazing view on the Caldera and each suite has its own view and terrace. My husband and I have spent a whole week, to celebrate my birthday: in the first 5 days we have been given a suite called "Athena" (all suites have been named after ancient greek gods or goddes) which had an amazing balcony and a hot tub. The view was unbelievable. The last 3 days we have been upgraded to a pool villa called "the white house" which was absolutely stunning, with a big terrace with a table and an hammock overlooking the caldera and a private pool with warm water. As the room, the terrace and the pool were so beautiful, we basically spent the last two days there! The restaurant of Andronis is positioned on the top of a rock which provides a unique location to have breakfast or dine with a full view of the caldera. The breakfast menu is very rich and provides a big variety of choices, and is well served both at the table in the restaurant terrace or, as we have tried some times, in your suite outdoor table. As well the hotel pool is nice and relaxing with enough space to host all the residents. The entire Andronis staff, nobody excluded, from reception to restaurant, to bar, to houskeeping, has been professional, kind, always available: the system of making any request via whatsapp simplified a lot all the organization of our stay, suggesting us the different options of possible activities, making bookings, suggesting the best restaurants where to dine and managing all the reservations taking care we always had the best table! The morning of my birthday I have also got a nice (and super-good) birthday cake!!! I will keep Santorini, Oia and the Andronis as one of the best memories of my life.Guest review byIlariaItaly
- From US$369.70 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 8.2Very good - What previous guests thought, 506 reviewsWe absolutely loved our one night stay as everything was fabulous. The staff is really welcoming and helpful, the reception lady and Mickael were really nice. Our suite was beautiful and clean, very spacious. The bathtub inside was a delight, the bed was super confortable. The view from our big balcony with our personal pool, on the caldera, was breathtaking. We enjoyed a good cocktail (pricy but worth it) by the pool bar with its unbelievable scenery, before ordering room service from the restaurant. Everything was delicious, generous and fresh. The same perfect experience at breakfast : we had a beautiful view on the sea and the buffet was really, really good and varied (local small dishes such as tzatziki or vegetables canapés, local charcuteries and cheeses, eggs, bacon, croissants, puffed salted pastry, variety of breads and fruits, crudités, Greek yogurt bar, deserts and pâtisseries etc), it was absolutely perfect. We wish we could have stayed longer !Guest review byrichardFrance
- From US$287.17 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.1Superb - What previous guests thought, 494 reviewsStarting from the room and the view The room is modern and spacious with a spectacular view on the caldera. You will probably get the best santorini sun set from this hotel! The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming The food is tasty, and they have variety of options You have access to a mini market right opposite the hotel so you can get all the things that you need like water , food, snacks, shampoo etc.... The location of the hotel is perfect because you are not in the middle of the crowded areas like Thira or Oia yet you can easily reach there by the nearby bus stop or by car . It will not take much time. Imerovigli has the best restaurants and views in all santorini The hotel has 2 lifts to help in minimizing the use of the steps going up and down. You still need to use stairs but not as muchGuest review byYounesUnited Arab Emirates
- From US$614.05 per nightScored out of 10, guest rating 9.4Superb - What previous guests thought, 515 reviewsThis hotel genuinly took my breath away when I first saw the view. It is so well located and designed that every single room has a view of the Caldera so you can’t go wrong. The breakfasts have any and everything you could wish for and I am still craving them. The rooms are spacious, modern and completely luxury with gowns and slippers. There are multiple pools if you feel like being around more people or you prefer to be more private. This truly is the most beautiful hotel I have ever seen. The morning breakfast staff made my stay as they are so sweet, attentive and genuinely care about guests.Guest review byKirstenSouth Africa

Fira is awesome! I personally liked it better than Oia.
Fira is awesome! I personally liked it better than Oia. Great shops, food, and things to do! Many lovelt restaurants are in walking distance, and this includes formal, sit-down places and also to-do, take away spots. It feels very safe! It is clean. Fun night life is you are looking for it but also easy to relax in your own place and not feel bothered by nightlife. Things to do include: Hiking to Oia (see note below), beaches (black sand is so cool!), horse riding on the beach, renting atv/scooter, shopping, cooking class, boat ride, Amoundi Bay & cliff jumping near Oia port (see note below). *Hiking to Oia: super cool!! Highlyt recommend if you liking hiking. Wear sneakers at a minimum (no sandals), terrain can be rocking at times, lots of dust, lots of ups and down hills. Go early in the day!! It gets hot fast and you feels it durig the walk. *Amoundi Bay & cliff jumping: you have to go down many steps to get to the port of Amnoubdi Bay...From the main area of Ammoudi Bay, continue walking past the seafood tavernas along a rocky dirt path. There is a gate up but people just walk around it. The beach is small and rocky. It gets busy quickly, Its easy to get into the water there however because it is quite shallow. The cliff jumping is fun! You have to swim out and climb up to get to the platform but easy enough for children to do! Favorite spots: coffe = coffee lab; quick food place = Yogi ; restaurant (greek food) = triana tavernaGuest review byhonsaUnited States - 10.0
So beautiful and picturesque!
So beautiful and picturesque! Take lots of photos, you won’t regret it! Restaurants are a bit overpriced but there are plenty of other food options around. The tours are worth it so be sure to book something you’d like to see. A car to get around is best but the buses are so easy to use to tour the whole island!Guest review byOlgaCanada - 10.0

Kamari is a fantastic destination – in our opinion, the best place to stay on Santorini. It is lively but still peaceful, with crystal-clear water and beaches covered with black pebbles. The main promenade along the sea is full of shops and restaurants. Prices are similar to other Greek islands. It is just a 10-minute drive from the airport, and there are regular buses to Fira. Taxis are more expensivem, a one-way ride to Perissa, Fira, or Oia costs €40, we ordered taxis via the Uber application. You can also take a boat from Kamari to Perissa for €8 per person – we definitely recommend trying that experience. Overall, Kamari is a much better place to stay than Perissa. The whole resort is right by the sea and has better beaches. Oia is a beautiful place, but extremely crowded, the beaches are difficult to access from the hill and will probably be expensive, we recommend just taking a trip there.Guest review byPetraCzech Republic - 2.0
It’s an expensive town.
It’s an expensive town. Beach is difficult - all bars and restaurants offer ‘free sunloungers’ to customers but then you must spend at least €20pp in the restaurant- and are persistent on reminding you to spend the money. There is VERY difficult sea access all along the beach - slippery flat rock for quite a while - so getting in and out of the sea was somewhat challenging. And large waves. And it was boiling hot - not great. I wouldn’t consider returning ever!Guest review bynoname12380United Kingdom - 10.0

Imerovigli is a stunning destination, with incredibly beautiful accommodations and restaurants. The only downside is the many stairs you need to climb, which can be tiring in the evening after a full day. On the other hand, in the early morning I really enjoyed jogging through the area. Overall, I loved it and I highly recommend visitingGuest review byDaniel - 6.0

Not much happening in Karterados and Fira is bloody expensive. I would however recommend moving on to other nicer islands such as Milos, Ios, Naxos and particularly Paros. Santorini is a bit shit, the steps from the old port are literally covered in Donkey shit, it's disgustingGuest review byPaulIreland - 10.0
Akrotiri is a beautiful town.
Akrotiri is a beautiful town. I definitely recommend visiting the Akrotiri archaeological site, but the entrance fee of 20 euros is honestly way too expensive. The White Beach and Red Beach are nice, but not really our thing because they’re overcrowded. We preferred finding some quieter beaches insteadGuest review byMilosCzech Republic - 10.0

Quiet little town located quite high up on the island so the views are just awesome. It's also super central and close to everything. We hired a quad for the 4 days in Santorini, this was such a good idea as it was so easy to get around the island.Guest review byThibautAustralia - 10.0

Best location in Santorini you can get just in the the heart right in between Thira and Imerovigli - 10-15mins walk in both directions. Beautiful and relaxing town with everything you could ask for and still without the noise from clubs until late night like in Thira! Firostefani simply is a must to pick!Guest review byMrMajklIreland - 2.0

the location is not what it seams, it is just between the main road and other construction sites or empty fields, with no nice view. Overrated prices on booking.com compared with the reception prices or any other nice hotels even in Oia.Guest review byralucaRomania
