Sauna, relax and Spa area for ca. 8 people is really comfortable, they arranged about 2 hour slots not to be overcrowded. In addition to the spa area there is an outdoor sauna and 2 extra wooden hot tubs as well for enthusiasts. The surrounding garden of the Hotel is well-kept, enough carparking lots, two of them with contacts for electric cars.

Balatonfured is a great spot for families with children. There are many water activities / boat trips to nearby resorts etc....
As a couple, we were interested in exploring the wines of the region and were fortunate to arrive during a time when all the major wine producers of the surrounding area had stalls on the promenade of Balatonfured along the lake as well as local food.
It is easy to get to Balatonfured from Budapest by train and once, there, to get around on foot. Many people cycle though.

Esztergom is a beautiful historical town.
Esztergom is a beautiful historical town. People are friendly here, as in most of Hungary. Excellent shopping and dining options. Sometimes there is a problem with parking down in the city. Very good parking options around the basilica.

The old city centre is a 1000 years old, so it might worth a few walks :) The rest of the it is like any other socialist city. There are some pretty good restaurants around, worth a try, especially when they have traditional dishes.
Also worth checking out: the small airfield Börgönd: 10 minutes away with car, and you can book a parachute jump, or a pleasure flight :)

Veszprem is a small city, with some very impressive architecture, and interesting history. Also a nice place to just explore . The area along the riverside which passes the bottom entrance to the zoo then reaches a really nice park is a favoured walk for us . The centre has a good selection of restaurants catering to a variety of tastes and budgets . One thing to be aware of is that lunch is the Hungarian main meal of the day , therefore we have a couple of times tried to get a meal a bit later on the evening , depending on the time of year or day of the week that has sometimes been hard to find . Getting around , we can walk anywhere it’s a compact city . We generally get a lift from family to and from Station, after that we walk , if your fairly fit and can walk for about an hour I think you won’t need public transport but it is available if required . We are 3 adults so can’t say what children would like other the zoo and ice cream shops which are very good .

They are excellent and harder then expected. Picnic place is very interesting.
The city itself is an old mining town, but the closeness to nature is an excellent thing.

Beautiful excursion place - Hungarian Provence.
Beautiful excursion place - Hungarian Provence. I recommend visiting outside the main tourist season. The prices are higher, but the place offers an excellent starting point for walking, cycling or car tourism around Lake Balaton.

Nice, small city with (paid) beach at Balaton lake. Full of tourist in the centre(parkings also paid) but if you go uphill - towards hills - you can find not only delicious wine but relaxing atmosphere.

I found service in Balatonfüred uneven. The low point was restaurant Il Lago at the lakefront: despite looking inviting, the service felt dismissive and the prices were high for what we received. If you don't speak Hungarian, expect German to be the main language while English is less widely used.
