The location was perfect, with an amazing panoramic terrace where you could have an aperitivo and enjoy the sunset in Matera. The room was a special experience, with fossils in the walls dating back to million of years ago. The whole stay is an extraordinary experience that once in a lifetime everyone should try.

A very well-designed bathroom, not big, but beautiful and nicely done. The garden is very lovely, nice to walk around in it. It's best to stay at Amarena Garden House for more than one or two nights to really enjoy the surroundings and Matera. The breakfast was excellent; we ordered an omelet, and the second time it was prepared just perfectly. An ideal place to stay with a dog.

Fantastic and very unique hotel. Right in the heart and yet very peaceful. The room was quite big and had all the amenities. The unique old-style swimming pool is the best we have seen in a hotel. Matera is still a secret of Puglia and that's what makes it so special - from preserving the architectural tradition, with narrow streets, old stone, many churches, very chic restaurants, very good food, extremely clean, extremely bright (you can walk around without problems at any time and you can see a treasure at every step), with superb views, with wonderful people, I could talk a lot about Matera! But you have to see it with your own eyes to believe it!

I liked the old city center area, all the restaurants and shops just a short walk on mostly level ground. It seemed very safe! I would have liked to see the museum but it was a little too far and down a steep hill for a troublesome knee. A little knowledge of Italian and a translation app was helpful. The people would work with you and overall we’re very kind.

Beautiful hilltop town. Amazing castle at the top with a museum of Roman artefacts, well worth a visit - incredible finds and not busy. Not for the faint hearted big hills to everything! Worth it though.

Marinagri offers very unique vibe.

Marinagri offers very unique vibe. It is peaceful and very tranquil, you will feel welcome and safe. Policoro is a small city. However it is very cute and people are kind, the weather is great in September. The reason I decided to travel to Marinaagri is sailing in the Ionian Sea. My sailing experience was sensational and I am happy I discovered new destination for my new sailing journeys. The food is amazing I did visited Nemo restaurant, this is very unique place with amazing food choices an first you may think it is a fast food place but I’d you go to Policoro you must try it it is amazing. Seafood is fresh and local and very tasty.

Our trip couldn’t have been better.

Our trip couldn’t have been better. The town is delightful, so unique and beautiful. The food was delicious and not ridiculously expensive, (We tried two different restaurants on the host’s suggestion list). The hike across the suspension bridge up to the archeological sites was spectacular and not too strenuous. However, my favorite part was staying in one of the renovated cave houses. It made the whole experience so authentic and interesting. We had a wonderful time.

An interesting city for a short visit.

An interesting city for a short visit. A nice Archeological museum (general tours are in Italian exclusively). The city is rich in its theatre but unfortunately, we came out of a season. The historic city centre is situated on the top of a high natural hill; verticals in the city are striking. Therefore, free public elevators are quite ordinary means of transportation.

We loved the town and we loved the apartment the hot tub was wonderful. My husband enjoyed the sauna and the Scottish shower. The shower in the bathroom was great and like artwork. The bed was very comfortable and the hostess and coworkers were great. The breakfast was great. The parking took a bit to figure out and you will do some up hill hiking to get around but so worth it the town is like a fairytale. Wish we had more time to stay and do some hiking and guided tours.

The history of the Sassi and the vibe of Matera town square on Saturday morning was fantastic. The Sassi is a photographer's dream - nothing quite like it anywhere else. We had lovely meals at every restaurant we went to and loved walking around and exploring the quaint alleyways and shops. Very friendly locals!
