United KingdomWell placed, roughly five minutes from the main Ikebukuro station and within walking distance of Sunshine City. It’s on the Yamanote line too, so easy to get to major travel locations like Shibuya, Harajuku, etc.
The rooms are clean and comfortable, my group was three people and we had a good amount of space and were very comfortable. There’s cooking and entertainment facilities in the room, which was nice when we were tired and just wanted to relax in the evening. Of note — hotel rooms in Tokyo are notorious for being quite small and cramped, but the rooms at Mimaru are huge by comparison.
The staff were friendly and helpful as well.

Location was perfect! Very close to the subway station and lots of things to do in the area! I liked that the area wasn’t TOO busy which made it a perfect place to stay for us. The hotel was amazing, they cleaned the rooms regularly and provided lots of things for free (toothbrushes, shampoo etc). Room was perfect it had everything we needed and I 100% would stay here again next time I visit!

The location is great for public transport (Train) with both Yamanote green line and Mita line that easy to access. This property also has public onsen on the rooftop. The staff are so friendly and helpful.

Best location ever right next to the train station. Very nice hotel, clean with big rooms relatively to other hotels in tokyo. Convince store and shopping right inside the hotel. I can't recommend enough!

There is so much to do in Tokyo that it can be difficult to know where to start. There is something to interest everyone. However crowds and wait times can really hamper people who are staying for a limited time. I would suggest reservations where available.

What have preferred to stay in Tokyo, but a friend suggested it because we were meeting her. But she didn't tell us about meetings she had and we could have stayed in downtown Tokyo for about the same price. Good location if you need to be in that area with the hotel at the station.

Fuchu was a wonderful town to stay in on the outskirts of Tokyo. It has a slower, more relaxed atmosphere than central tokyo. The people were friendly and there was plenty to do and see. The tree lined main street leading to the temple was beautiful. And there were some local parks that were nice to walk to.

Hachioji is the gateway to the Fuji lakes and beyond. The surrounding areas can be accessed easily by train or car. Mount Takao is a short train ride away. At the same time, Hachioji is a relatively short train ride from Tokyo.

Musashino is a Tokyo city suburb - accessible to central Tokyo in 20 minutes. Musashino area includes Kichijoji with a huge variety of dept stores, shops, eateries, restaurants of all cuisine types, and also the wonderful large Inogashira Park and its large pond, as well as Ghibli Museum. Nearby are more sedate areas of Nishi Ogikubo and Mitaka.

Machida has everything you need for shopping plus the Odakyu...
Machida has everything you need for shopping plus the Odakyu Line into Shinjuku or the Yokohama Line into Yokohama if you need to hit the big time. Still comoared to most North American towns, Westerners will think Machida is HUUUUGE and super busy. For Kanto region I'd saw it's a hub for Kanagawa but manageable.
Food choices at and around the station are excellent.
Hotels are way cheaper than in central Tokyo yet you are only 30 to 60 mins on any train to wherever you need to go.
Direct buses from Narita and Henda airports as well so no need to deal with hauling luggage on trains. Or just takyubin (courier) luggage to Mahcida from airport.

Kichijoji is a great area in the western suburbs of Tokyo.
Kichijoji is a great area in the western suburbs of Tokyo. We explored the beautiful Inokashira Park and other points further west such as Chofu and Koganei. We ate at a great izakaya that specialises in squid called Totomaro. There's plenty of shopping, including Don Quijote and Yuzawaya. Kichijoji is on the Chuo line which connects with Shinjuku and Tokyo stations. It's also really well serviced with buses.

The island is lovely and has many outdoor activities. But you will likely need to rent a car to reach some of the more remote areas easily. There are buses and taxis, but you may have to wait quite a bit of time. The convenience and shopping available. Different vibes in different locations appealing to all age group. Easy short trip out of Tokyo making the travel more holistic.. eg to Karuizawa ( mountain resort area).. Matsumoto ( small town vibe with castle) and of course to Hakone..

Love this neighbourhood.
Love this neighbourhood. I lived in Japan for several years, 2 decades ago, and I have gone back a few times for a visit. First time for me to be in Tachikawa. It has great vibe, a bit of hustle bustle, but not crowded and suffocating like Shinjuku or Shibuya. Lots of shops and cheap restaurants.
Not touristy at all and you can observe locals doing their everyday business if that is your thing.
