The bed was comfy, the wifi worked perfectly, the shower was hot, and the view of the waterfall was awesome! Location perfect for a day-walk to the falls, and near to some pretty decent restaurants. Hummingbirds in the trees just off the balcony, really quiet, just a slice of bliss!

PeruA lovely homestay in the heart of Cuispes. We ate breakfast, lunch and dinner here as well. Hot shower, comfy bed and wifi. They helped us get to the waterfalls as well.
It's more remote than most towns, so you need to try and plan ahead a bit, like what time you want to eat, what time you want to go somewhere etc. 10 soles per person in a mototaxi to get from Pedro Ruiz and 10 soles per person to get to the start of the waterfalls (don't walk, it's 5km, uphill on a dirt road).

CanadaThis property is amazing! Such a beautiful and peaceful area, the accommodation was very comfortable, clean, and luxurious. Breakfast was made to order by an onsite cook. Bathroom was nice and clean, soap is provided. Location is great - right beside the trail leading to the Gocta waterfall. All in all I highly recommend.

HungaryReally good location, nicely designed boutique hotel. Restaurant and bar were exceptional, the chef and the bartender both deserve only praise. Hotel staff and management made our stay more than perfect, we really got spoiled by their kindness and personal care. Management were one of the few speaking English in the region.
During our 3 week travel in Peru, Doréan was surely the best place we stayed and one of the best restaurants we ate at. Would go
back any time.

Where to start - charming vibrant historical town, beautiful...
Where to start - charming vibrant historical town, beautiful pedestrian street, colourful daily market, super kind people, adventurous excursions to see pre-incan sights, hike to waterfalls, and see canyons. Easy and inexpensive to get around with taxis or collectivos. Good tour company options as well (Tourism Explorer). Food options are good but service can be slow so relax and be on slow time! Ejoyed El Batan del Tayta, Cafe Fusiones and Amazonas 632 and Amazonika. If you are adventurous and flexible you will enjoy this town and region. Be prepared to make last minute changes to plans due to weather, road closures or flight changes. Best time of year is April-July, after rainy season and landscapes are greener.

A very clean and safe little town with enough things to do...
A very clean and safe little town with enough things to do to keep you busy for 3 to 4 days, excellent value for money. Easy to get around with public transport, all taxis ask the same flat price of 5 soles within the city borders, hassle free.

Kuelap, Karajia & Gocta.
All were great, the drive to and from these locations is not too far and the history is great and of course Gocta is a highlight for me (I did the 2 tier hike instead of just the single tier, longer day but I was there for Gocta and hiking so wanted the full experience).
As for Chachapoyas itself, it is great to be able to fly there (the airline is ATSA), because i didn't want to spend a long time on buses. The town itself is very well kept, very colonial style and clean, the locals are very friendly. It was nice to sit in the main square of a night and just enjoy the atmosphere. But, once you have had a small wander there is not much else to see in the town. Unlike other places that seem to have many landmarks to see or street carts to eat from so you can do something a little different each day, Chachapoyas didn't have this (in my opinion). This does not make it a bad place, just there was nothing else to do for me as a tourist other than the tours each day. So my trip was perfect with flying in one day, having 3 full days of tours and then flying out the next.
