We worked there 30 years ago and our children were both born there, but we left when they were small, so this was a trip down memory lane for us, and an introduction to the kids.
It had changes so much, ( for the better) and we had a wonderful time. We used to love the Shwarmas and the hotel guided us to a brilliant shwarma restaurant that we ate at frequently.

Everything, bad attitude from the Egyptian guy on the phone, he shouted at me when I just ask about the location, because the name of the hotel is different from the one on booking!! No hot water in the bathroom, though it was cold weather. It is totally overpriced and not worth the money !! I don't recommend it.

A very nice small city presenting great views of the desert on one hand and an oasis on the other...
There is a very nice park for families on a mountain. Must visit during the day as well as the night. During the day, you can have a walk in the desert and during the night, you can have a breathtaking view of the city. Else you can visit 1 hour before sunset and experience the two in one visit.

Riyadh is a good city but for solo travelers an advice - do not take private taxis and do your research of the areas for your stay. Not all the areas are safe and pleasant. Especially for women do not indulge into any chats with Taxi drivers and just be cautious while traveling. I learned no place is safe until or unless you are aware of your surroundings and be smart enough to deal with scumbags.

On the way from Makkah to Riyadh, we can stay at Ad Dawadimi but few things need to keep in mind. The road (Highway 50) is not smooth as Highway 80 towards Riyadh. At night there will have no car on the road so driving alone will be little scary and risky (no one will be there to support), even no locality besides the road. However, once you reach in the town, you will feel good. It is a very good town where you will find all famous mall and fast food restaurant. I like the town Ad Dawadimi.

Riyadh is a vast city, very busy, traffic is heavy, however if you choose the right hours, you might be able to avoid being stuck for longer in traffic. Weather was very pleasant, people are welcoming and helpful.
