The breakfast was excellent. It was limited, so, no buffet. But the Modeva is a boutique hotel and I wouldn't expect one; similar to a continental breakfast, but with added fresh fruit. The staff also went out and bought a particular Thai breakfast dish for me. The room had a Sharp flatscreen and major channels; Youtube, Netflix, etc. unlike other good resorts which only have Thai channels. This hotel's real bonus though, is the garden and pool, because they are so child friendly––toys, games, playground, sandpit, inflatables––very fun for my son :)

Great place to stay for a night or two when you're visiting the Erawan falls or the river. The rooms have a nice vibe, simple and comfy. The place was nice and clean and had all you needed. The breakfast was with Thai food that had a variety of selections. Great dessert options and fruits. The fresh coconut was so tasty! The staff was very accommodating with all requests.

There are so many great things to say! You'll feel like you have instant community when you get to know the Mon staff or go have a drink at the bar with other visitors. Grab a life jacket and float from one end of the rafts to the other, letting the current carry you down the river. Feed the pet elephant in the morning! Watch the Mon dance performance at the little theater in the evening. Go to Erawan Waterfall during the day to feel like you are inside Avatar! Unplug without any electricity in your room (you can get it and WiFi in the common areas so it's no problem) We really really loved the staff. PAT was especially amazing to us. He inspired us as a wonderful, talented, kind human being and incredible dancer. We loved meeting you, Pat!

Kanchanaburi has obvious historical significance for WWII enthusiasts and families of the men who perished here constructing the railway. Visitors will find museums and an information centre. There is the famous railway bridge built over the River Kwae (note pronunciation) which visitors are free to walk on. It's on the network so you can stand and watch the trains rumble across or climb aboard at the station nearby and head up to Hell Fire Pass. Or you can the view resorts, temples and restaurants from the river, zooming down on a long tail boat. The Kwae River Road (soi mare nam kwae) is the place to go for eating and live music and (girlie) bars. Just don't walk down the street with your shirt off gents, Thais find it very offensive. 'The Strip' as it's called also has great conversation and a broad mix of travelers. Getting around is easy and cheap and there are many tours to be found covering the waterfalls and forests of Kanchanaburi Province. There are a wide range of resorts, hotels and guest houses here which should fit anyone's budget.
