Nan is very interesting and really off the beaten track.
Nan is very interesting and really off the beaten track. The night market was so fun, local families coming together and eating together near the temples with loads of choice of food.
The surrounds of Nan were lovely, I cycled nearly 70km and enjoyed it loads. It’s not build for tourists, which is great so it’s a really authentic piece of Thailand :)

Pua is an awesome jumping-off spot to explore the national...
Pua is an awesome jumping-off spot to explore the national parks, Sapan, and Nan. You can see all the local stuff in just a couple days, but we stayed five days and loved it. It was my first time driving in Thailand, and those mountain roads were insane but super fun.

Nan is an interesting town...
Nan is an interesting town... There are lots of temples and history from when it was a kingdom. I was visiting during the low season, but during my 10-day visit, I could see something every day. But you must realize that this is not a holiday site where you can enjoy daily fun and entertainment.

Pua has several nice restaurants.
Pua has several nice restaurants. At Wat Mongkol there is a good marketcwith enough choices of cooked food. Also Wat Phuket is not far away and both temple are worth a visit. In season the green racefiets are magnificent. People are friendly if you are, and the area is an oasis of tranquility!
Own transporation is recommended.

My first trip to Nan and in fact Thailand. Absolutely incredible experience. Obvious areas were food, scenery in particular the mountain scenes.
The people of Nan were welcoming and very hospitable indeed...and came across as very genuine.
The culture and temples were amazing...visited many temples in Nan and also in Chiang Rai..
Amazing country and Nan is an area I will return to visit again.
