I got an upgrade on my room which was fantastic. All the staff was absolutely friendly and accommodating. A few in particular, Kurl, Dion, Sanchez and Joan, The lady who did our eggs and the lady who took our orders in the Morning and the bartender by the pool. They really made our stay more comfortable. I think the rooms we had were comfortable, the food was good but I think they need more staff for things to go a little quicker in that department. Overall it's a great place to stay.

We stayed at the Treetop at Castara Retreats and the view was phenomenal! We were surrounded by plush foliage and sounds and views of Castara Bay, birds and beauty. We were even able to catch a view of a stingray while we were in our apartment condo looking into the ocean. The open layout of the condo, the ambience and relaxing vibe, the warmness of the entire village, the clear ocean and mangoes☺️ everything was delightful! We enjoyed dinner for our daughter’s birthday at the onsite restaurant with sunset views- a modern take on Caribbean cuisine. When we wanted more authentic food we walked into the village to purchase food at Riverside Local Cuisine- we had breakfast there almost everyday, and we ate at Duck’s Seaside grill and Cafe and frequented the grocery store- D-Genius supermarket. We were picked up and dropped back to the airport. Porridge and the entire team were gracious and accommodating! We will definitely be back!

The guest house owner and staff was very friendly and helpful. The environment very clean, quiet and smoke free. The entire settings of the place beautiful. Easy access to restaurants and nearby shops. The beach was amazing and clean and very easy to access. The area Buccoo is very safe and welcoming with lots of activities so we were never bored. I highly recommend this guest house as a must stay when visiting Tobago.

    Travel epicentre.

Travel epicentre. You can take buses (very unreliable, timetables very random, online, only in one direction, not updated often, so they change without word), but very cheap; shared taxis & mini vans are good and also cheap, ask around. Also private taxis. A lot if places close, or close early on Sundays. Attractive water front. A place to go to get to other places- nothings far from Scarborough, but you don’t need to stay there except for early morning ferry departure. Accommodation over priced!

Area caters for most tastes re restaurants and bars.

Area caters for most tastes re restaurants and bars. I spent my whole evening at WONKY WINDMILL and enjoyed the food and drink there. Can be walked to from the Airport but I suggest a taxi as roads and pavements not always up to Western standards and the rain can make it very tricky to navigate. Lots of development going on but it was not noticeable during my stay at CANDLES. Andrew is a very good host - if you are new to the area, ask him for information

As a female solo traveler, I visited Castara with a skeptical mindset to be honest, and Castara ( Trinidad and Tobago in general) just blew my mind away. Such a wonderful, amazing place and such a great nation full of super-friendly, warm, kind people. I absolutely loved the beaches, specially the Castara Bay beach where I spent about 10 days. The beach was breathtakingly beautiful. The view was picturesque. The green mountains surrounding the landscape were enchanting, and I just ended up relaxing for hours in the magnificent turquoise water. I simply did not want to come out!! Not crowded at all. Felt like I was chilling at a private beach. The ocean was very calm, peaceful, and more of a pool, so it was ideal for a person like me, who is not good at swimming. Felt an extremely safe vibe while roaming around the village. Castara ( Tobago in general) should be in a traveler's bucket list!!

Some of our favourite spots were Store Bay and Charlotteville for swimming, the picturesque Parlatuvier jetty where we spotted stingrays, and the iconic Buccoo Reef and Nylon Pool for a unique ocean experience. We also enjoyed exploring Fort King George, the Museum, and the peaceful Botanical Gardens. For dining, we had a lovely experience at Skye Restaurant at Comfort Inn & Suites, great food and a relaxing atmosphere. Tips for a smooth trip: Rent a vehicle, preferably an SUV or 4x4, as some parts of the island are quite hilly and you’ll want to explore freely. The sun can be intense, so be sure to pack sunblock, sunglasses, caps, and rash guards for added protection.

Tobago is one of the most beautiful islands in the Caribbean, a hidden gem unlike most of the popular islands. The warmth of the people and the safety of the location is a plus. It has becomemore expensive as the A listers from North America who seek privacy have bought property. Unlike, Trinidad which is more urban and certainly not a tourist destination, the local government has done a remarkable job of the infrastructure in the remote parts of the island. As a choice for family, relaxation and lots of outdoor activities such as hiking, snorkeling and bird watching, the isalnd is a top choice.

The location of Blue Waters Inn is spectacular.

The location of Blue Waters Inn is spectacular. Speyside itself is a quiet little place and quite remote, which we like, but there's not much there. Jemma's, the one restaurant that was open in Speyside, is characterful and in a great setting; but we were charged a naughty price for a very simple meal of shrimps and rice. The 'main ridge forest' is wonderful, and we had an outstanding tour focused on bird-watching with Mr Newton George, a top ornithologist and guide who lives in Speyside. Charlotteville, a pretty fishing village on the Caribbean side, is only 15 minutes drive away. Also near is Kings Bay, on the Windward side but with good bathing facilities, very few people, and beautifully sheltered.

This is a very small town with a very local feel.

This is a very small town with a very local feel. Not too many tourists, and the restaurants and stores do not feel 'made for tourists'. They are just sort of 'there' and no one will make too big of a fuss over you as a tourist, so if you are used to pampering, this may not be the place :-) My favorite was driving (10 minutes) to Englishman's Bay, a gorgeous beach with a wild feel, very basic amenities, frequently quite strong surf, so be very cautious of undercurrents. But a truly beautiful stretch of sand with palm trees and coves and plenty of shade.
