A kids playground immediately on the river side of the hotel, and a row of field pieces behind the castellations of the hotel terrace, in case the ankle-biters get too noisy.
Food was good. The staff and I were able to make do with their limited English and my very limited Russian & Ukrainian.

Very cosy room, there was everything for the comfortable stay. The surrounding area is also convenient. The hotel has its own shelter in case of air raids, so I felt really safe there . And there was a super nice and helpful receptionist.

It was my first time in Izmail and it exceeded my expectations. It's very nice to walk along Suvorova avenue, as well as near Morvokzal, and a park along the Danube near the Small Mosque where the diorama is located. I enjoyed my stay and plan to come back in the summer.

Good example of Small town Ukraine.
With mix of modern and very old buildings. Cafes were all inexpensive with some new and some old.
Nice parks designed for walking and catering for young families with small kids. Streets were a mix also with some paved and some not. Tourist highlight is ancient castle and Shabo winery 15 minutes drive away by taxi.

We had a wonderful time at Fontanka.
We had a wonderful time at Fontanka. The host met us, very friendly and aimed to please. We got the impression that she aims to be upmarket in quality of service and immenities. All is as advertised. Location is good, close to the beach and next to supermarkets and fast foods in an upmarket neighbourhood of Odessa. Ideal for a small family beach holiday. Enjoyed our stay and will book this apartment again on our next trip to Odessa.

Odesa is a gem on the Black Sea.
Odesa is a gem on the Black Sea. It is truly one of my favorite locations. During the war, there are some risks, especially at night. It is important to have some situational awareness and anticipate where to be if an air raid siren happens. That said, I never felt personally in danger and was able to meet with other mental health professionals to discuss programs during the war. If you have free time, the Opera House is a rare treasure and consider taking in a performance if you can.
A little known secret is that some of the best tattoo artists in Ukraine are in Odesa and collectors of this form of art can get inked with rare images.

Odesa is a great city for both the young and old alike.
Odesa is a great city for both the young and old alike. Out of war-time, it is quite the party town and the young still manage to have a good time despite the curfews. Many of the museums and cultural venues are still open albeit with restrictions on numbers, times, et cetera.
