The area is beautiful; however, the tragedy of the loss of the Old Town Lahaina casts a pall over the area. If you have memories of before the fire, it is very, very sad to see the remains of buildings and know that over 100 people lost their lives. The sentiment of Lahaina Strong is wonderful and uplifting but as you speak with residents, the current, somber message is that we will never regain what has been lost and there is no definitive plan or timeline for rebuilding. You are asked to not take photos and to respect the area. There is a bypass road that has been built.Guest review byGeorgeUnited States - 10.0

This property is right in between the Marriott and the grand Wailea with beach front access. This property has beach service where they have towels and lounge chairs for the property. The property is absolutely beautiful. I found the pools to be a little too shallow for swimming. This property is located right next to a lot of restaurants and shopping. We would definitely come back.Guest review byAShleyUnited States - 8.0

What a cute little town that made it easy for us when we needed to leave Maui to head to the airport at the tail end of our trip. We liked this location if you decide to do Road to Hana or the summit of Haleakala. This made it so much easier to get on the road early.Guest review byHanhUnited States - 8.0

The hotel is very nice, it has a central pool overlooking the sea. The rooms are spacious and clean, offering coffee, tea, beach towels, personal care products (soap, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion). There is a restaurant right next to it, serving good local dishes, where you get 10% off your bill as hotel guests. There is a parking lot in front of the hotel entrance, for $10/day (+taxes). The staff is very nice and keen to accommodate your requests. We were there on our honeymoon and they set up the room very nicely. The location is very close to the airport, yet is a very curated hotel. Overall a bit expensive, but aligned to the high prices of Maui.Guest review byAlessandraItaly - 8.0

Wailuku, especially staying in Maalaea is so central to all of Maui. It sits almost on the intersection of each of main roads of the island, 10 mins into down town Wailuku, 10 mins to Kihei, 10 mins to the airport, 20 mins to Paia, or Lahaina, or Wailea. Everywhere is close while Wailuku has much to offer by itself. The pub in Maalaea is great for casual dining while taking in a high position view over the marina, the ocean and Haleakala. The Mill (5mins away) has a wonderful restaurant, fantastic menu and very relaxing location. This is a favorite of ours.Guest review byPeterasjAustralia - 10.0

all the beaches around there are really pretty the food is very good. A lot of food all over that location a lot of things to do. I would’ve liked to travel to the different islands. It was hard to book a boat ride too expensive. I wish it was a little bit cheaper to do different events. I think everything is over price that’s what I didn’t like about this island. It’s very hard to plan outings with the big group of people we had 13 and we couldn’t afford to be doing all the different events with the group that big my other family stayed in a different resort but we wanted to stay all together, and it was very expensive to book.Guest review byMelizaUnited States - 8.0
It's a small town.
It's a small town. We stayed one night in Hana so that we could complete the sites along the Road to Hana without pressure of time. Smart move. We got to see and enjoy everything we wanted on the way to Hana, and several places beyond Hana. It would not have been possible without staying a night in Hana. We found Hana to be pleasant community.Guest review byDouglasUnited States - 10.0

Beautiful beach town that provides a very pleasant even if touristy insight to Maui living though not truly local. The dining options are great as well as shops but it's more-so made up of Californians selling art than it is of Maui born & bred locals. Neither a positive nor a negative, Paia is a perfect beach town to switch off in but if you're looking for a true Maui experience it may not be the most adventurous though it is beautiful, friendly, vibrant and can be incredible for beach wildlife spotting.Guest review byDanielUnited Kingdom - 10.0

The town happens to be located on the serene side of Maui. Waves 2-4 foot. Beginner surfing. Extremely clear waters to snorkel. Shops and food abound, golf and luxury nearby. For the vacation goer who likes people.Guest review bymikeUnited States - 10.0

Haiku was quiet, peaceful, much more local feel; The total opposite feel of Kaanapali, which is much busier and more touristy. [We stayed in both areas during our trip.] Near Haiku there are local thrift shops, weekly markets (Swap Meet), and you are surrounded by nature. The weather was fine too. Not too rainy (as was forewarned on multiple sites).Guest review byDavidUnited States
