United KingdomWhat an amazing, unique boutique hotel. Absolutely beautiful and we had a fabulous stay. A former government official's residence in years gone by, the hotel and room we stayed in was set around an inner courtyard. The decor is stunningly beautiful, traditional, light and airy, with quirky art on the walls and small uruguayan wooden sculptures dotted around and in every room.
The breakfast room is a lovely space to relax in each morning and the breakfast is delicious and plentiful. The bed was large and very comfortable.
The staff are very professional and helpful.
The location of this hotel is perfect - a 3 minute walk to the old town and to the sea one way, and the same distance to Av. General Flores, one of the main streets in Colonia. There is an abundance of restaurants, cafés, bars and shops on its doorstep.
Guests can make use of a swimming pool on a Finca in the countryside which is around 10km away and free transport is provided for this. This experience was one of the highlights of our stay - it was unforgettable!!

SpainI loved the garden with chairs under the big tree, chill-out and the swimming pool. Alltogether, it creates a family stay feeling, in the middle of the historical area. Very good breakfast, with fresh fruits, pastries, etc.

Very nice and peaceful place, incredible clean, beautifully decorated. Friendly and helpful staff, the location couldn't be better. Right next to Plaza Mayor, and also not far away from the port, or restaurants. Definitely recommended.

We found that the local services offered weren't generous of information, every answer was vague.,even the taxi driver had not knowledge of local restaurants.Our spanish was good enough to found out our own answers for tours, restaurants, wine tastings.

We were only here a few days , we went to the beach which is in a very peaceful area , you have so much space and surrounded by trees so you can have shade, the uraguay river if a brown colour but is clean and you can swim . We cycled around the area and went to the sculpture gardens which was run by a local artist, it was fun to see and the artist told us how he makes the sculptures, children would like to see the animal sculptures here . We had a wine tasting at El Legardo which was great 😊

Santa Ana is beautiful, is peaceful, and ideal for a relaxing holiday.
I think it's a great place for a weekend, but I wouldn't recommend to stay there for a week or more, as I did, because you easily get bored.
Yes, you can go for a walk or go running, as I did, but if you go in summer, with high temperatures you can't do anything except taking a nap.

Colonia del Sacramento is located along the Rio de la Plata...
Colonia del Sacramento is located along the Rio de la Plata River, and is filled with historical buildings and ruins with small museums and galleries and restaurants dotting cobble stone streets. We traveled during the end of Fall in the off season so the town was very quiet and many sites had abbreviated hours or were closed completely. Temperatures were brisk but the sun and blue skies balanced Fall weather. Grocers, pharmacies, and shops provide necessities travelers seek, and shopping is wonderful. Museums and galleries are very small and hours were abbreviated during this "off-Season" time of year. The town is very friendly, quaint, and filled with small boutique Hotels and boasts a large Hostel for Back-packers. Worth a visit...you need at least two full days to see everything.. Don't miss the Bull Ring..Plaza de Toros Real de San Carlos!

This is a low-key town without any visible tourist infrastructure. We came to relax at a vineyard and enjoy the Uruquay countryside. It was great for 2-3 nights, time to explore the different wineries, take a cycle and visit the small local beach at sunset.

We did not allow enough time for Colonia. It was a nice city and deserved more that one day. I would stay in a better hotel if I was there for more than one night. It is easy to walk around on the tree lined streets. Nice resturants and of course the history.
