Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

United KingdomWhen researching a place to stay in Syros for our two week holiday, we are so happy that we decided on Captain’s. When we arrived, Elsa and her family greeted us warmly and the whole team have been so helpful and lovely during our stay. The view from the rooms is spectacular, the rooms are very comfortable and the breakfast each morning was fresh and very tasty. Thanks to everyone at Captain’s for making our two week break so enjoyable!!!

Breakfast was awesome, which you get looking out over Kini Bay. Beautiful location and views. Walking distance in to Kini down the hill (10 minutes down, 15 back up). Staff super friendly and very efficient cleaning rooms whilst you're at breakfast. Room was really spacious, with great private balcony to enjoy the sunset.

United KingdomThis is a massive pro as well so just adding this comment to help allay any concerns for others. The B&B is a steep walk (in the heat) from the beach, which does mean you get a beautiful view and sunsets from the accommodation. There are two staircases and two sloped roads between the beach and the B&B. We did this walk each day in flip flops, even with a herniated disc, so it is doable. We could've hopped on one of the hourly buses or used one of the often waiting taxis available too but we felt confident and wanted the exercise, so please don't let this put you off if you have mobility issues as there are options.
Absolutely loved our stay here. Captain's is conveniently situated at the top of Kini, the bus stop is right outside taking you to Galissas and Ermoupoli (12 mins) for just £2. The accommodation itself is a dream. A lovely pool with 10 loungers and umbrellas, a delicious breakfast, beautiful decor throughout and wonderful hosts. A lovely family, supported by their friends, who are all extremely welcoming. Elsa responded super quickly, even during our stay with my 20 questions about bus times, thank you! They even had feminine products in the toilets, a sign of top notch customer service! We've thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, as a group of three friends needing a well deserved break away. The B&B is a credit to the owners. Thank you!

United KingdomThe location, as there was a very steep walk from the seafront up some steps and steep hill back to the accommodation!!! Would be a problem for unfit or physically impaired people. The majority of guests had hire cars to get around the island. We used the local bus to get to the port area which was very simple.
Large, airy room with excellent sea view. Comfortable bed and good size bathroom with shower. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was amazing with an excellent selection. Infinity pool with lovely views, very relaxing 😊

AustraliaWe loved our stay at Captains, and it was the best place we stayed in our whole 3 weeks in Greece. Amazing apartment with incredible views, and the best breakfast in Greece. Staff were incredible, pool was amazing and the whole place was spotlessly clean. Kini is a beautiful, quiet seaside village.

AustraliaWhile the space inside the small apartment is adequate with a living room and a separate bed room, the lighting could be improved. There are steps inside and outside the property to climb but it can't be helped as the construction is adapted to the hilly terrain. However, people with issues negotiating the steps might want to stay away.
The breakfast was individually served by the host who was kind and attentive to every need of ours. We did not want much of a variety. The quality mattered and the quality was available in the items being served including the delicious home made jam along with honey and very good quality of bread plus eggs and anything else we could have asked for. Drinking water was freely made available as much as we needed and we needed it in plenty. It was not charged. Unfortunately, the location although serene and somewhat scenic has limitations by way of restaurants & quality. The city centre is far removed and needs a taxi trip to and pro costing 30 Euros or a bus which makes only 2 runs to the city and 2 back in a day with a lot of waiting involved.

United KingdomThis is not negative, just advice. If you are not with a car, make sure you have strong legs for the short walk back from the beach.
I never give 10 because perfect does not exist. But there is no option to give 9.6, 9.7... The room was very spacious, spotlessly clean & all facilities fully functional. Also a lovely balcony. Breakfast was excellent, very attractive & tasty. Both Babis & Paul were very attentive and a pleasure to meet. Chrisa's communication prior to arrival was absolutely top notch. Thank you all so much for a lovely stay.

CanadaIf you have a car, it is no problem, but the hotel is a bit of a walk up from the town if you don't. But all the positives out weigh this!
