Real Bookers. Real stays. Real opinions.
Read more– opens a dialog boxEach review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

GermanySo tiny and still everything there, so well equipped. And so lovely. And did I mention tiny? :-D It´s all ruins around the tower, so very quiet at nights, Vathia is a really cool place to explore. During the day, there´s tourists passing along the path. I enjoyed sitting on the stairs/stones before the (tiny!) door and chatting to some people. The lovely owner also left us the key to her terrace around the corner for breakfast and such. And she let us stay a little longer for the nasty rain on our departure day. Thank you. The tavern in town was open and nice, with great views. Be prepared for a bit of an adventure walk to the place. It´s steep and partly plain rocks. My first thought was "are they nuts?!?, this can´t be the right way?!?". It is not really suitable for suitcases, bring a backpack, and altogether don´t bring much stuff (tiny, remember?) When we checked out with rain, we skipped the slippery "rock stairs" and walked the circle through the ruins the other way around, it´s a bit longer, but possible, you can´t really go wrong.

GreeceEverything was excellent but we stayed for one night.
A very nice cozy traditional room in an old tower. The location was excellent as it was in an almost abandoned village with towers and great view. The room was very cute and we enjoyed our night there.

United KingdomThe room has a fan instead of an air-conditioner, which is mentioned in the description, so we knew about this when we booked. However, the fan was rather loud and not really cooling when the outside temperature is well over 30°C, and the two small windows did not allow in much cool air at night. The room was hot day and night (early July). Considering the price per night, and in comparison with other properties in this price range, we would have welcomed an air-conditioner. The room is small and well-insulated with its thick stone walls, so I'm sure it would run very efficiently.
Vatheia is a special place with its tower houses clustered onto a hill, now mostly unoccupied and many in ruins. This property is therefore an opportunity to stay in an authentic Mani tower house that has been renovated. The property is accessible by a footpath including some bedrock steps, so you should carry the things you need in a rucksack or small bags (such as airline carry-on luggage). Also, because the room is small, large bags would just lie in your way. The room is very nicely decorated in a homely style. There are small windows behind and to one side of the bed, there is a small table and chairs, a small kitchen area with hotplates, sink, refrigerator, and utensils. The small bathroom has a shower with stone wall and stone ledge for your soap, shampoo etc., and a porthole-like window. The front door of the room is very low (as indicated in the photos of the accommodation) and you have to remember to bend down and not stand up too soon because the walls are over 50 cm thick. Much of Vatheia is in ruins, which is not a criticism and of course not the host's fault. The property is located at the western edge of the village and is surrounded by ruined towers, with one inhabited tower next door. For us, this was part of the historical and cultural fascination of the place, and it is all wonderfully photogenic.

GreeceThe room was very clean and equipped with everything you might need. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, perfectly suiting the place, so it helps you spend the night in this abandoned village. Additionally, the staff was helpful and responded quickly to any questions we had. All of these contribute to a truly unique experience if you choose to stay in Vathia.

AustraliaWater pressure is very low and hot water supply for the shower was just enough for a very quick shower.
It was a special opportunity to stay in the old village in one of the iconic towers. The accommodation was what was to be expected, a bit basic but that is part of the charm.
