How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.
Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

Room could’ve been bigger, but then this is New York
Location is fantastic. Hotel is welcoming and very clean. My room was on the small side but adequate. Staff could not have been more friendly and helpful.

Toilet paper is not refilled as needed. The room is even for New York very small.

Two small things - rooms could use a little refresh - paint, etc. And I would have liked an additional mirror (plenty of wall space for that). My only real complaint is that the air conditioning made a horrible high pitched (almost alarm-like) noise and so I had to turn it off at night.
The staff was wonderful. Friendly, welcoming, accommodating. The location of the hotel is great for exploring the Upper East Side - close to Central Park, the MET, and many other museums. It was also very quiet for a NYC hotel. The rooms are small, but expected for NYC.

The room was really, really small. We had the cozy but it was really tight for two people. Bed was up against the wall so not easy to get out of bed with two people. Had to shimmy to the end of the bed to get out and there was no way to move the bed. Bathroom also extremely tiny. Tough space for my 6’4” husband. Sink needs its own light. Hard to put on makeup. Very limited amenities for the price of the room. No iron, no mini fridge bc there’s no room.
The location and staff were AMAZING! Pretty decor.

Rooms are tight.
Quaint old hotel, in a very quiet area of Upper East Side, close to Central Park, and a quite a few restaurants on 3rd Avenue. Very clean and very friendly and helpful staff.

The only thing they need is a plug for the telephone charger by the bed

Not very well insulated, so can be cold in the room if you don’t like hot air blowing from the aircon. Then again, it is so nice to sleep in a cosy bed in the cold

The room was very small, as was the bathroom; I'm a big guy and it was hard to maneuver there.
The staff were all great. The room was cleaned and refurbished every day. Nespresso in the room was nice to have.

700€ per night for a still too small room ( even after upgrade) no breakfast included, even not available, is far too expensive even in Manhattan
Location, proximity to subway. Very cosy hotel. Very clean rooms and confortável beds. Staff is amazing! We booked a room with city view but at arrival we were looking at a wall. Wrong information from booking.com. Fortunately the hotel gave us upgrade to room with view.
