How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1 and 10. To get the overall score you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of them. We use a weighted review system, which means the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. Guests can also give separate “subscores” in crucial areas like location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value, and free Wifi. Note that guests submit their subscores and overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an accommodation that you booked through our platform if you stayed there, or if you got to the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialize in detecting fake reviews submitted to our platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team so that our fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we'd publish every review we get, positive and negative. However, we won’t display any reviews that include or refer to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive info (e.g. emails, phone numbers, credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (i.e. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out. We may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old, or if the accommodation has a change of ownership.
An accommodation can reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (e.g. language, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). You can sort and/or filter them by time of year, review score, and more.
Sometimes we show external review scores from other well-known travel websites, but make it clear when we do this.

Very well located, 2 minutes away from the metro station. 20 mins walk to Time Square. Rooms were spacious and comfortable

Small and cramped gym Hotel and rooms does not align - hotel overall can do with a bit of an upgrade Not the hotel's fault - but just the feeling of the whole of NYC that's become a pot hole... meaning you smell it everywhere you walk when you step outside the door
Location good - within walking distance to Times Square, Central Park Spacious room and bathroom - for NYC - that was really good Staff super friendly and flexible

Loud elevator. When they give you earplugs you know they know it’s loud and they’re right.

Extra beds in the family room (bunk beds and sofa bed) were not very comfortable, but we made it work for three-night stay. Coffee maker in room did not work, but we probably could have asked staff for new one if we needed it. Hotel feels a little dated,
Family room with two bathrooms was great for group. Location was great too. Staff was very nice. Given these positives and the very reasonable cost, it would have been hard to find a better option for us.

The location was really convenient for us. We really only slept there and were out all day during the day. The bed was cozy and the room was mostly quiet at night with minimal noise near the elevators a few times. All in all, a good place to sleep.

The location wasn’t bad but there was construction all around and at night it was sort of hard to find the property. They could use a bigger sign on the outside while all of the construction build up around it is there.

The fact that the bar didn have beer on tap and breakfast for 20 bucks was horrible! The pancakes were so tough I couldn't cut them... Your front staff the man was less then friendly snd sent us to the wrong room... had ti go back downstairs for a lady to help me and fixed the issue.
The location and room size for New York was good.

No microwave.
The location was great. Near a subway. The room didnt have a microwave but I was allowed to use the one in the lobby. Room service daily and staff was nice. Overall, great room for 6 of us.

I liked the second room they gave us, is the reason to give 4 stars, at the beginning they gave me a poor room, that was unclean. And the employee (front desk clerk) was very unpolite and doesnt want it to change the room. Eventhough we saw the cleaning lady finishing the room beside us that was the one we expected as a group. At least, after various questioning he changed our room. In summary I didn't like the bad attitude.

I think the staff could have asked the purpose of my visit and perhaps made suggestions of places to go. I really hated that there were no keys available, so you had to wait for a staff member to constantly let you into the room.
The staff was excellent. The location was perfect for my needs.

Located just a couple blocks away from MSG and to a walkable distance to Times Square and the Empire State Building. Good food options nearby. A Subway station is right in the corner.

Needs a friendlier more welcoming entry. Scaffolding has been up for a year at least. Waited 25 minutes for two bowls of soup. Elevator button on 6th floor works occasionally. Had to take the stairs a few times.
It is convenient for us for transportation, walking and restaurants
