The food at breakfast and dinner was varied and exceptional. All of the dishes I tried I liked , and they had a nice variety of western and Japanese. The room we had was huge and very comfortable. The onsen facilities were excellent, and very well kept. We are skiers and this hotel was very well setup for skiers. They have locker rooms for storage as well as changing, and on checkout day you can leave all your luggage , go ski, come back and change and then leave. But what makes this hotel a standout is the staff. I speak limited Japanese but had no issues communicating with the staff either speaking directly to them or using google translate. They are kind, patient and will do anything to help you. On checkout day, we went skiing and came back at 11:30 and needed to use the courier service taqubin which is conveniently located inside the hotel gift shop. However, we failed to notice beforehand that the shop takes a close break from 11:30 until 3:30 and our train leaves at 3;15. We were very stressed but the lady who runs the store and handles the courier said no problem, she would stay open just for us and give us time to change out of our ski clothes ,repack our ski gear and come back. It took us longer than we thought to repack and change because we had some trouble locating the ski bag as it was behind the counter in long storage. It didn’t matter, she still waited and when we finally finished she patiently helped us with the forms and everything was handled . When we left again for the station we had some time to wait so we purchased some small sweets and went back to give them to the staff as a thank you for all their exceptional efforts and help with our stay . They seemed genuinely surprised and happy and then walked out to wave us goodbye! How nice and a great happy surprise for us! We cannot recommend this hotel enough and we will be back someday.

Featuring 10 uniquely designed hot spring baths, Shosenkaku Kagetsu provides Japanese-style accommodation just a 5-minute walk from JR Echigo Yuzawa Train Station. The traditional style of the hotel was excellent. The whole place just oozes with relaxing vibes, the bedroom was lovely and clean - the beds very comfortable and the private Onsen is a must. Great staff too, so welcoming.

Nabízí vnitřní a venkovní termální prameny, knihovnu a útulný salonek s krbem. perfectly located to slopes and restaurants. staff cannot do enough for guests and make you feel very welcome and cared for. train station transfer is very convenient and appreciated.

We have stayed at many onsens around Japan over the years but this place is the very best of any we have stayed! It is a historic building that has 200 + years of history. Even the Japanese emperor stayed here a long time ago. On arrival the building looks a bit old but you quickly learn that it is nothing to be concerned about. Staff members, both old and young are exceptional and carry on the traditions of Japanese hospitality. The food, both breakfast and dinner was exceptional. Great variety of traditional Japanese cuisines. Every meal different items (except rice of course :>) . The natural spring hot tub just outside the room was very spacious. Temperature is adjustable by yourself. Truly a great place to spend 3 nights or more. Neighborhood walking also pleasant.

The wonderful people working at Koase was our highlight! Tomoko, Koya, Sayaka and Miwako recieved us very well and they were all excited to have us over. They even took us for a tour to say hello to the mayor of Aga 😂 Also a special thank you to Tomoyuki for managing our bookings 🙏

Sake Hotel Tamakiya se nachází v destinaci Tokamači a nabízí pokoje s výhledem na řeku. Jen 38 km odtud je Lyžařský rezort Gala Yuzawa. breakfast was excellent, it didn't seem much at first but once you started, the flavor of the different vegetables accompanied by the selected rice was incredible. Also loved the sake pairing of our French dinner.

We adored the magical garden and the four different onsens, all of which included a rotenburo (open-air bath). ​The personalized service and attention to every detail made our stay perfect. A huge bonus was the massage from the specialist expert—he was truly remarkable. The meals were also simply the best of their kind—an unforgettable culinary experience
