The place is absolutely beautiful. By far one of the nicest hotels I've been in. Every detail is well thought of, and the location near Takayama Old city is great.

Located in a 100 year-old Registered Tangible Cultural Property, Ryokan Hostel K's House is located in Shizuoka, a 7-minute walk from JR Ito Train Station. It was very nice and also liked the onsen a lot!

Nestled in the tranquil Hida Mountains, Miyama Ouan Kyoritsu Resort offers traditional accommodation featuring hot spring baths and nature views. Excellent: beautiful location, amazing staff, great service and excellent facilities. Definitely our best stay in Japan. No low prices, but certainly worth it!

33 km from Koibito Misaki Cape in Shimoda, 横川温泉湯殿ととのゆ provides accommodation with access to a hot spring bath, hot tub and open-air bath. Exceptional setting surrounded by forest. Simple and high quality design with attention to detail everywhere across the house: materials, lights, blinds, equipment both indoor and outdoor. Very comfortable beds, fully equipped kitchen, quality toiletries, fantastic sauna, onsen, pool, phone chargers in every room etc. Relaxing place with Japanese flair. Fridge was prepared with soft drinks and beer.

Syukaen Yunohanazen er staðsett í Atami, 27 km frá Hakone-Yumoto-stöðinni, 29 km frá Shuzen-ji-hofinu og 43 km frá Daruma-fjalli. Two different hot spring baths, nice spread of food served to room for breakfast and dinner. Friendly staff but a bit weak on speaking English.

Hakuunsou er staðsett í Takayama, aðeins 48 km frá Takayama-stöðinni og býður upp á gistirými með fjallaútsýni, ókeypis WiFi og ókeypis einkabílastæði. The onsens were really nice. I appreciated the simplicity of the reservation system as well.

Upon arrival, we were served matcha tea and traditional peanut snacks from Takayama, which were both delicious. All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. In particular, Haruka provided us with a detailed explanation of the ryokan's facilities, as well as recommendations on attractions in and around Takayama. When we asked if we could buy fruits at Miyagawa morning market, she recommended that we buy apples there, and we successfully managed to purchase sweet apples the next day. Haruka also provided us with an extremely generous selection of Japanese snacks and helped us to select fragrant Japanese incense to light up in our room. The staff were able to communicate in basic English and the posters / printouts in the hotel (e.g. guidance on how to use the onsen & eat the Japanese breakfast) were in multiple languages. The ryokan went above and beyond to help us with our requests. They helped us to book a reservation at our requested restaurant (Kyoya) on the day of our stay, even though we reached out to them prior to our stay. I had initially wanted to ask them to help me forward my luggage to another hotel, but they kindly offered to help me store my luggage for 1.5 days after our checkout instead, which helped me save on luggage forwarding fees. The ryokan is housed in a building that is over 100 years old. Despite this, the rooms were impressively clean and well-maintained, with modern facilities such as air-conditioning and bidet toilets. The futons in the room were also very cozy and the blanket was thick and comfortable. The ryokan has an indoor onsen, which we found very relaxing after a long day outside. The ryokan can also help you light up an irori (traditional Japanese charcoal-fired hearth) although we did not try out this service.
