Dating back to 1854, the award-winning Holly Lodge Guest House with FREE off site health club is quietly situated in the center of Windermere. The lodge is very comfortable, clean and well organised. The staff were all really friendly, and everything we needed was provided for us. The rooms were also spotlessly clean. The location is also perfect for walking around Windermere and its surroundings. The communication was also really helpful. We walked up Orrest Head thanks to the recommendation from the hosts - a lovely view at the top!

St John's Lodge is an award-winning guest house situated between Windermere village and the Lake at Bowness Bay. We had such a wonderful stay at this lodge! The place is very cozy, spotless, and clearly well cared for. Since it’s run directly by the owners, the service feels personal and truly superb. The location is excellent—just a few minutes’ walk to both Bowness-on-Windermere and Windermere town, making it very convenient. One thing that really stood out was the thoughtful touches: complimentary coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and cookies, all refilled daily—something you don’t usually get at hotels. We booked this for our advance wedding anniversary and were greeted with a sweet little surprise, which made our stay extra special. We only paid a small amount for an additional chocolate treat, which was absolutely worth it. Breakfast was also fantastic, with plenty of options to choose from. You can really feel the love and care Rich and Ada put into running their lodge—it makes all the difference. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Lake District!

Stunning hotel inside and out, with beautiful lake views and perfectly decorated for Christmas. All the staff we spoke to were polite, friendly and went the extra mile to ensure our stay was enjoyable. Our suite was cleaned to a high standard, well maintained and quiet throughout our stay. We have already booked to return next year…

In a peaceful residential area of Windermere, this friendly guest house is in an area of outstanding natural beauty. Bowness in the Lake District is a 10-minute walk away. Thank you so much Jane and Mark for your warm hospitality during my stay, starting by allowing me for check in before 12am, upgrading room present and also for the ginger cake treat, I got the biggest room with huge view of the backyard which I enjoyed it so much. Overall room and toilet are super clean with toiletries, the shower area is a lot spacious than I expected. Very recommend 😎👍🏽
